I don't give a fuck to fight in front of some fucking billionaires and rich people that could give a shit less about me. Probably throwing parlays. Fuck you guys."

I mean, I appreciate him taking a stand here. But I'm not really sure what he thinks his day job even is? MMA ticket prices for floor seats can be around $1,500, options up into the $10,000 range.

He's a worker, of course he's beholden to capitol.

But there's a difference between a normal fight and something like this. There's dignity as an athlete competing in a sports league with problems, this would be different

Sorry to be that guy, but it's "capital". Capitol is a building that houses the head of state.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 4 points 1 day ago

Damnit...I actually second guessed myself on it too lol

[–] drunkpostdisaster@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

He can't really do anything about that.

Bad take. Say you are a developer.

You can get paid to build a video hosting platform to entertain the masses, and a company makes a huge amount of money, but you get paid and it's your job and people like your work.

Or you could get paid to build surveillance software for an authoritarian government.

Both are jobs you could do, but you have a choice to not do one of them.

This is this man's choice, and it's a good one. Applaud him.

What’s next? Hauling in convicts for mock sea battles in the new trump ballroom with tasers and swords?

We're not spending money on AI anymore. Might as well.

Welcome to Costco, I love you.

Anyone else prefer the term tourch instead of slam in headlines? Just feels better to me

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

If you're going to use the term "slam" anywhere, it seems wasteful to exclude it from a headline about UFC.

[–] phaedrus@piefed.world 4 points 1 day ago

Until it also becomes overused every time someone says anything

I hate both. I really just want boring, but actually descriptive headline again.

I'd pay good money to watch someone fuck that little meat piggy Dana White in front of the White House. You know the yard would stink like poop and prosciutto.
