Looking back at Skies of Arcadia as it turns 25, and the weird screeching sounds it used to elicit from my console.

This game deserves an HD remake.

Many 8-bit home computer emulators have an option to recreate the sounds of their tape drives and disk drives as they load software. But are there any Dreamcast emulators that recreate that unholy screeching that made you wonder if your console was somehow already on its last legs even though it was still nearly new?

I wouldn't want to hear it the whole time, but for the first major load of a game it might be pleasantly nostalgic.

I am not into JRPGs (or console games), but this does sound interesting. I have always liked "flying ships" settings.

I wonder if we'll ever see a proper pc port/remaster.

I'm not a fan of the genre either but this is one of the few exceptions. I started a play through (fairly) recently and it holds up very well graphically but does fail in other areas as I would say it is racist in it's depiction of different cultures. So along with that I also think it one of the games where source code is patchy at best so I doubt a remake/post will ever happen.
