That's why a swath of us left Reddit in the first place, isn't it? If not, one of the large reasons as to why we left it. To come here in hopes we'd have escaped some of the power-tripping that was going completely haywire over there with the constant bannings and post-removal that borderlines censoring and cancelling.

Now it has apparently been replicated here, where I am seeing the same things happen and I'm not seeing the difference between the two platforms. The karma farmers, the gas-lighters and more, it's all here.

We escaped Reddit so we can not be like Reddit, not escape Reddit so we can try being like Reddit.

I think the Fediverse has largely lost the script and the plot entirely. If you want a more better experience on the Fediverse, stop installing crybaby over-sensitive mods.

Holy shit you made another post rant crying about how people were mean to you because you are a bigot to homeless people? And you say that the mods are too sensitive?

If it wasn't clear from everyone's responses in the unpopular opinion thread: grow up and find some empathy, you're acting like an emotionally immature man baby.

What made you think communities moderated by random people would be any different from communities moderated by random people?

I left reddit because the platform owners are assholes. I never expected the users themselves to be much different.

I don't know, maybe we can have a fucking nice community to go to without power-tripping mods? Wouldn't that be fucking nice?!

No, we just get the same shit-stains. at this rate, why even bother having any platforms like these?

If you’re not happy with how communities are ran you can create your own. Nobody is hogging precious namespace so you can spin up @numismatics@treants.penis and run it any way you like.

[–] Harkronis@kbin.melroy.org -5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why? So I can just hear myself talk and you can just giggle at the frail attempt? What a dumb idea you've proposed.

So you want people to listen to you, while you don't have to listen to them. That's called a blog. Try WordPress or something.

[–] Harkronis@kbin.melroy.org -3 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Blogs are reserved for more personalized posting? What frame of existence are you in?

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 weeks ago

Half of these people are actively trying to help you with what is obviously a personality problem. Have you considered that everyone else isn't the problem? Maybe you just need to stop being such a needy whiny bitch or fuck off back to 4chan with the other cringelords.

[–] Steve@communick.news 2 points 3 weeks ago

Sure! People used to use them for journaling all the time.

[–] Harkronis@kbin.melroy.org -4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No, idiot. If that was the case, then everyone should get a blog, by your logic and we wouldn't have anyone to be posting here.

Just fuck you, dude, your bullshit logic. Just take it and choke. You've nothing insightful to say, but adding fuel to the fire, you stupid motherfucker. You're so fucking pompous it is unbelievable.

Everyone used to have a blog, until the big social media "platforms" kinda took over the internet.

You could try substack. They make it easy to monetize your blog.

I left for the opposite reason. Reddit does not have enough moderation, and they gave me a temp ban for reporting someone advocating political violence.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

I hate to break it to you, but people on Lemmy call for the death of politicians and their families all the tame.

It’s… icky.

It’s made me really close to leaving the whole platform, and the .world admin's sentiment against it is about the only thing that stopped me (even if they don’t enforce it very strictly).

"installing" mods? What do you mean?

You can start your own instance right now, throw a community together, invite people over and have a grand old time. In fact, thats how it all works.

Lemmy.world is an awesome instance, but maybe try a couple of instances and see what you like. Its ok to "shop" around per-say. Have fun and enjoy the fedi!

That’s why a swath of us left Reddit in the first place, isn’t it?

No. I don't think many people left Reddit for a desire to post in a 'free speech absolutist' instance.

I can think of many other reasons why many people left Reddit. One of which is that it isn't moderated efficiently enough.

I think the Fediverse has largely lost the script and the plot entirely. If you want a more better experience on the Fediverse, stop installing crybaby over-sensitive mods.

You know the Fediverse is comprised of different instances that exercise different levels of control over local community moderators, right?

[–] Steve@communick.news 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I never had a problem with the moderation. Just the platform enshittifying to maximize profit.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 2 points 3 weeks ago

Same. I was on reddit for 10 years, wasn't banned once (and it's not like I never posted anything or didn't antagonise people). The enshittification is what made me leave.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world -1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

The problem with Reddit was never the platform, excluding the API thing. It was always a people problem.
Now the power users moved here the same problems appear.

[–] Skavau@piefed.social 1 points 3 weeks ago

I don't think a single Reddit 'power user' moved to the Fediverse.

[–] Harkronis@kbin.melroy.org -2 points 3 weeks ago

And now they'll wonder why the same some 100 people will respond despite the subscriber numbers. It's not encouraging anyone else to get involved when they're probably going to get banned and/or having their posts removed because some people can't handle it.
