BOSTON (AP) — President Donald Trump ’s administration asked a federal appeals court Friday to block a judge’s order that it distribute November’s full monthly SNAP food benefits amid a U.S. government shutdown, even as at least some states said they were moving quickly to get the money to people.

The judge gave the Trump administration until Friday to make the payments through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. But the administration asked the appeals court to suspend any court orders requiring it to spend more money than is available in a contingency fund, and instead allow it to continue with planned partial SNAP payments for the month.

The court filing came even as Wisconsin said Friday that some SNAP recipients in the state already got their full November payments overnight on Thursday.

“We’ve received confirmation that payments went through, including members reporting they can now see their balances,” said Britt Cudaback, a spokesperson for Democratic Gov. Tony Evers

Don’t forget about the disabled and elderly.

I know some folks with severe degenerative diseases and no family to help. They spend their money on assistance to get to the damn toilet, but the GOP wants them to “get a job” or to quote New Max’s Rob Schmitt, stop spending money to "get their nails done" and "to get their weaves."

This is what happens when you elect millionaires and billionaires to represent normal people. They don’t understand the what it’s like to need support, or to be a family that’s trying to work and support someone who is elderly or severely disabled.

They just don’t care. Those people can’t add value to their companies, so they see them as ‘surplus’ and want them to die.

Also Trump: but only if they look like my daughter.

Democrats will feed 100 people on the off chance one needs food.

Republicans will deny 100 people food on the off chance one doesn’t deserve it.

In its court filing Friday, Trump’s administration contended that Thursday’s directive to fund full SNAP benefits runs afoul of the U.S. Constitution.

Not like Trump has ever cared about it before. Yet when the vulnerable goes hungry, here he is fighting the courts to keep them that way.

Fucking evil.

"Yes, we'll starve them into voting for us. That will certainly work."

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Unfortunately it does. "I thought they would only deny colored poor people."

2 inches... 2 fucking inches

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Clearly we need to see for ourselves how this kind of governance plays out. Those 2 inches could ironically end up being the thing that saves us from fascism.

Wasnt that the teleprompter?

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I think we don't even know at this point. This will forever be a 9/11-esque conspiracy theory until some definitive proof of a scheme comes out.

Someone should block his access to McDonalds.

[–] shininghero@pawb.social 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nonono, give him nothing but McDonald's. His heart's already on the way out, we shouldn't delay his upcoming meeting with the grim reaper.
