Donald Trump was heading to Florida on Friday, watching Fox News, when he saw the network run a story on how Christians were being targeted by Islamic groups in Nigeria, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

He was “immediately” angered by it, one of the sources said, and asked to get further read in on the issue. Shortly after Air Force One touched down in West Palm Beach, he began posting on Truth Social.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter,” he posted, adding that he is making Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” under the International Religious Freedom Act.

Anyone laugh at “laser focused”

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 14 points 4 days ago

Yep, 15W bulb swinging on a cord in an empty room seems more apt.

"Laser focused" in the same way that a cat could be say to be "laser focused"

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 2 points 3 days ago

Except when my cats automatic food dish goes off he doesn’t nuke it!

[–] PNW_Doug@lemmy.world 51 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I swear it's like he's sundowning. He focuses each day on whatever story confused and frightened him the night before.

[–] swipernoswipey@piefed.social 9 points 4 days ago

Let’s not kid ourselves. He doesn’t remember the night before

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 days ago

I doubt it. It’s conspiracy theory, but anything that Fox News talks about could very well be pre-planned with people like Steven Miller.

They planned out the Afrikaaner bullshit with Musk or Thiel or whoever and brought over a photo op group right away too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a similar story of admin wanting it, then making news stories to justify it.

I grew up in Nigeria and am here now after an absence, there is a problem in the north with Boko Haram, who are terrorists, however they are not targeting Christians, they are killing people randomly, they will attack Churches, Mosques, schools, etc. They are not waging a holy war against anyone, they are terrorists full stop.

They also were during his first term, but people forget.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 4 days ago (3 children)

The only reason his first term wasn’t worse was because some people in the admin were brave enough to tell him no.

Or stole his papers from his desk

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

The one guy openly said "you tell him 'we'll look into it' and then don't". Aka let him get distracted by the next shiny object. But now it's the likes of Miller and Vought.

After which they were promptly fired.

[–] cyrano@piefed.social 2 points 4 days ago

Well did you see who is at the ~~defense~~ war

[–] manxu@piefed.social 24 points 4 days ago

We tend to forget that his voters are the same, to an extent. The only time they realize there is a country called Nigeria is when it shows up in a Fox News segment, and then Something Must Be Done About It TM right away.

From their perspective, he keeps his fingers on the pulse of the world!

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 24 points 4 days ago

When people say trump is like us, they mean totally brainwashed by Fox News lol

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 4 days ago

So they're actively trying to setup a casus belli for invading Nigeria. This is literally crusade shit.

The Peace of Westphilla is often considered a point in time where the Church lost major political influence over international politics. Nation states would negotiate with each other without the Church being an official mediator. The white christian nationalists behind Trump are trying to undo this. Trump obviously only cares about them in so far as they vote for him, but he's happy to push their idea.

What they could say? If say the right word, lying, they might be forced to settle a multi-million "donation" to the presidential library

So the euphemism truthing=lying

[–] evergreen@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

All of a sudden we care about Christians in Nigeria. Oh wait, they have oil.

Thats a win-win

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 15 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Someone should just keep Sesame Street running when he's able to see the TV.

"I dont like this show, that Count guy is a real show off!"

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Ms. Rachel doesn’t need any more hate

[–] JargonWagon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

He'd see Bert & Ernie and want to cancel Sesame Street out of pure homophobia.

[–] JargonWagon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

He'd be very emasculated by the size of Big Bird.

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

Please let him see a TV segment on how Christians in Gaza are being killed by his buddy, "accidentally" or not...

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Quick, someone buy ad space for a euthanasia company on Fox. It doesn't have to be a real company.

[–] Infinite@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Are you often angry? Do you suspect your wives have all hated you? Was your cameo in a popular movie sequel unsatisfying? Anxious about your smell or going to prison?

Call today for "the button" and end all your worries!

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

Perfect. If we can get this made into a commercial using AI and put it on Fox we have a shot at doing an inception. He will think it was his idea.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago

He's such a senile, old manbaby. Tomorrow's headline is likely to be this guy yelling at a cloud.
