A lot of folks can't take jokes. They think everything everyone says is 100%. For the most part, when people get really hateful, even when making jokes, that's when they tell you the truth. That's my opinion, though.
I hate mfs who say checks notes jokes are supposed to be funny checks my superior notes humor is subjective, that whole jokes are supposed to be funny bit does not apply when it's a tweet or any other public forum, at least one person will find it funny
