What a shock. The Jewish Space Laser person believes aliens are real and that they are actually demons.
I've heard that it's a common evangelical belief. They believe that humans are the only sentient species created by God, so anything else would have to be Satanic. Makes perfect sense if you're fucking delusional.
You know I figured if we found extraterrestrial life it would result in a massive crisis of faith for every religion, don’t know why it never occurred to me that that is 100% what they’d think if we found extraterrestrial life.
Well, not all religions. Mormons would probably see it as more proof that they're right. They believe that God made multiple planets with sentient species. Besides that, gets a little bit conflicting. Then there's the Heaven's Gates. The weird alien obsessed ones. Probably a couple more, but those are the only ones I can think of. Oh, and Buddhism. Maybe. I don't know much, but I don't think that aliens existing conflicts with any of its principles.
Religions are very adaptable. At least the ones that survive long times. Simply need to reinterpret scripture to include the new information, even claim to predict it. I think there's a certain percentage or type of people who need some kind of religious structure to deal with life, it's a biological thing. Being skeptical and setting aside your own beliefs for analysis is not an easy thing to do.
Of course it could go the other way and aliens confirm that the religion is true, just maybe that our records of events is off a bit. Cue the joke about the aliens saying they absolutely know Jesus, he comes by every year because they give him cookies or chocolate, and then ask why he doesn't come to Earth regularly, what did we give him?
As a former evangelical fundamentalist, I can confirm. It’s a common belief. That’s what I believed once upon a time. Fifteen years ago I would have argued with you about it.
Also former fundie... and yeah there was a popular teenage book series when I was growing up. I think it was called "the forbidden doors". And yeah basically a long series that basically fell into the same pattern over and over, and yeah in short, basically it's "no that house isn't haunted, it's a demon, we need to get right with god and cast it out"... "No that isn't an alien it's a demon, we need to get right with god and cast it out". etc...
I never heard that about aliens (probably grew up in too podunk a place for anyone to bring it up) but 100% heard this about hauntings. Anything related to ghosts is demonic or satanic.
Along with any bad thing that happens. Alcoholism? Demon got him. Accidentally killed a kid? Demon. Purposely killed and ate a kid? Demon. Spilled breakfast cereal? Demon. Don't like the way someone looks? A demon is probably in them, you can see it behind their eyes. Cheat on your wife? Demon. Get caught getting split open by two dudes in a truck stop bathroom? Demon. "Wrestle with gay thoughts" to the point where you think homosexuality is a choice? Well, thoughts of sweaty men showering together were sent directly by Satan himself.
For a bunch of folks who say you should take personal responsibility they sure blame a lot of shit on demons.
I've also seen diseases and ailments being described as the fault of demons. High blood pressure? Demon. Allergies? Demon. Cancer? Demon. It's just crazy to me.

That's not quite what she said: she basically said she openly believes in batshit religious nonsense, and as such would have no trouble believing unknown phenomena are figures appearing in her batshit beliefs.
The keyword in all of this is batshit. How she won an election, I'll never know.

Well that's what Okarun thinks, and there's a difference between the yokai in his theory and spirits, but at least some aliens are repulsed by spirit barriers so there's an implication that there's at least a possibility that aliens are just yokai from space

Religion is a form of insanity, but I think she would have managed to be insane without religion.
Religion can definitely drive people insane but I'd say in our day and age is more likely the already insane are drawn to it.

So, I suspect this was a psyop to get Congress behind funding a number of surveillance projects, but the typical grifters and some hack Republicans who can’t find anything else to raise their profile quickly latched on. I wonder if there's any recordings of her calling into the Art Bell show... anyways, her appearing on Bill's show doesn't really have anything to do with any favorability, he's had that POS Bannon on there several times much to my dismay, and no shortage of other nutjobs, which is one thing I've respected the show for, welcoming everyone to argue their point, except sometimes some points don't really deserve national airtime.

I was flabbergasted as I was watching... Like please stop making sense MTG!! It made me feel like I messed up somewhere cause historically she sounds batshit insane.
