/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

"Picard never hit me!"

"I'm not Picard"

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 40 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Indeed not. You're much easier to provoke. How fortunate for me."

runs away like a little bitch and never comes back to DS9

No wonder Worf was intimidated by Sisko.

Edit: What's even funnier is that one week after the DS9 Q episode aired on February 8, 1993, the TNG Q episode "Tapestry" aired on February 15, 1993. Sisko punched Q and it takes him a week to get back with Picard.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Now I wish Picard had punched him in that episode!

Punch the authoritarian directly in the face

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Frankly I thought Q was wasted on DS9. Like they didn't want him there. Which is fine - it's not QS9 after all, but the TNGs with Q are always great and they could have had some great ones. Instead they just had Sisko punch him in the face. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Well they did want to set DS9 apart from TNG. So having a captain totally cool with punching Q set the stage.

Of course, I believe right after that episode Q went straight back to go annoy Picard.

Of course, I believe right after that episode Q went straight back to go annoy Picard.

One week later, literally.

[–] sirblastalot@ttrpg.network 2 points 16 hours ago

It's also some good foreshadowing for stuff we don't find out until literally the last episode.

"Don't worry, Q. I'm just here to kick Picard's borg ass."

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Q, please show up so you can fuck these fascists to oblivion

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

If the Continuum's told you once, they've told you a thousand times: DON'T - PROVOKE - THE BORG!

He most likely created this timeline… we’re living PIC S2…

An omnipotent deity can't find a better person to pick his clothes? Psash.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

He can, but he was cosplaying with the clothes judges start wearing after Trump took over the courts.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He also seems to like them, though, since he showed up that way more than once.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Only when playing judge.

[–] StitchInTime@piefed.social 3 points 6 hours ago

What I enjoy about Q is that he seems to adapt to the environment he’s in and who he’s with. Spoilers be ahead, but I think we’re past that.

  • In TNG he’s the ultimate antagonist to Picard’s intellect and diplomacy. This energizes him.
  • Sisko is a half god who punches Q. He backs off and goes back to the playful one.
  • Janeway ~~is a cold hearted killer who tells Q what’s up~~ helps Q navigate a conflict and bring factions together, much like they premise of Voyager.
  • Mariner most likely encountered Q as a child on the Ent D, so he has a playful and respectful report with her.
  • Not touching Picard S2, although there were some fun parts
  • Assuming T is Q jr from Voyager (not canon and BTS contradicts this, but it’s my current head canon), it’s logical that Q is more “mature” at this point, and doesn’t want to alter the timeline any further. Also, I love this as it nods to John’s head canon from S1 of TNG.

The Sisko wouldn't normally help Picard, but on that case he made an exception.
