Ad a catchy song and dance for TikTok and that might work.
Bring back the Harlem Shake.
The Harlem Strike. Start with a bunch of people mindlessly working, the cut straight to picketing.
What if I work from home 🤔

What part of "general strike" is unclear?
every movement needs leaders
👉👈 Do...do..we get to Naruto run everywhere we go too?
(tone: friendly gibe) You can already do that if you aren't a coward =D
Just make it a TikTok challenge.
We need to reach people who are employed.
Oh true. I forgot. No one with a job uses TikTok.
TikTok challenge: stay in bed as long as you can (and for the other guy: you must Naruto run to the toilet)
But so few people actually showed up to the Area 51 raid
They were just so fast nobody saw them.
November 28th, everyone don't go to work
Had buddy at work that tried to convince us of this everyday at lunch. My god he hated his job.
Did anyone suggest unionizing first?
nope. There was a union in the company but we weren't members. Dude just really disliked his work. He had the worst bosses.
The....the union could help with that... sigh 😔
No joke in his situation probably. He had issues like not being able to take off for doctors. He spoke to HR and they said it was up to him and manager. Of course his next job there was known as THE WORST manager in the company. He left the company after that.
UAP/UFO watch day in which we all gather in city centers.
Works better if it's just a straight up general strike. USians have some pretty good motivation right about now.
I would love a real plan to do a general strike in the US. Unions are legally prohibited from participating so we lack the best institutional knowledge.
The main thing is that we need mutual aid funds so that people can eat, don't lose their homes etc. "Striking for a day" is BS. We need to outlast Capital...and forgive me for being pessimistic about whether this is possible.
And without unions we also lack a lot of solidarity. Let's say everyone on Lemmy, Reddit, Mastodon, and BlueSky participates...that's great, but the chances are that none of you are my coworkers. My boss can fire me, your boss fires you, no big deal.
I dunno. I would love to work towards a general strike, but memes with no intention of actually doing anything are getting annoying.
