Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

To clarify, I don't mean an employee sleeping with their literal direct boss. Here is what I mean: if a 23-year-old police officer is in a romantic or sexual relationship with a 57-year-old police captain, sergeant or lieutenant, then that 23-year-old police officer should be promoted to detective or something or at least have some authority in their unit. Now that's just an example; this goes for any job: firefighter, doctor, military – anything really. If you are old enough to consent to be in a relationship with someone who is a higher rank, then I think that should qualify you to at least move up to some degree.

I'm not saying give that 23-24-year-old the biggest position in the job, but move them up a rank or two.

Why ? Why should we promote people in the hierarchy based on whose they are fucking with ?

If I were you I would start investigating why I view sex as transactional

Sounds like someone regrets sleeping with a higher up and wants compensation.

Or, I got it backwards and you're wishing there's a way to pay someone back for some amazing blowjobs.

Or he asked a subordinate to fuck, and she answered, "What's in it for me?", and he wishes he had a good answer.

"Ethics? What are those?"

TIL that authority is an STD.

That is a very interesting way to describe nepotism.

You should concentrate on the shower part, the other part isn't your strong suit.

What happens when the relationship breaks down? Does the person get demoted back to their original position?

[–] normalexit@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

They have to wrestle for the job. Winner keeps it, loser walks.

you are asking people fuck merits!

funny part is, OP is saying that it is unethical for them to not compensate to these poor souls 😰

Hey, it's fair right?, if young hot lady maintains romantic or sexual relations with higher ranking military using her seduction skills to get promotion. Others soldiers are using also using their skills. so IG all animals have their weapons. Instead of spending years in battles, why don't someone should take the shortcut. who cares about defending/extending our culture? What really matter is our own self-interest.

What a bizarre take

internal fraternizing (sleeping with employees) is a common ground rule at work to be fired. Getting away with breaking this rule, puts persons in a position to break more\other work rules. This state exists in places with bad managers or bad employees.

Imagine the white house full of women cuz the president couldn't keep it in, or vice versa.

Not a statement of our current political situation or anything, I honestly don't give two sh#ts about it cuz it's the same as having a gun to your head and forced to either eat dog sh#t or bull sh#t. I hate politics cuz most people in power suck, and everyone who follows turns into their mouth pieces... I should just live in the woods at this point.
