The thing about scamming the stupid is your story doesn't even have to make sense. It's fish in a barrel.
This is the most likely one “we’ll give you a discount and Trump will be good for backing the rest of it. A thank you for supporting him”
They probably hoped it would turn into a collectible? I would buy it for $1 for the laughs, but that's about it. It would make a great troll note for monopoly.

From a scammer :( their reasoning capabilities have been so affected by the last years of politics, that they don’t notice anymore what is a scam and what isn’t. And if this is a scam… maybe the rest might be a scam too? No, that’s taking it too far!
I saw some of these at a thrift store once. $1 each. Even at that price, I doubt there were many takers.
That’s what happens when you buy from a serial con man.
