That's one reason, but there are many. For example some of them are motivated by trying to literally kick off the bliblical end times.
Those a just the Christians being manipulated by the wealthy. The wealthy do not want to end time.
That and the devastation wrought by half a century of Neoliberal mismanagement has given far right demagogues across the Western world and every country directly affected by it (which is almost 100% of the rest of the world) the perfect opportunity to pretend that they're the champions of the downtrodden when in reality they're the ones treading.
If money can buy you power in the apocalypse, then they would rather live as rich fucks in a fallen might-makes-right cinderpile, rather than pump the breaks slightly on their insane lifestyle so that we could all have a future worth living in.
