I wish these people cared as much about the president being a pedophile as they do about this mid-ass restaurant changing its logo.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They need these distractions, otherwise they start to actually think. Their leaders can't have that happening.

If it encourages them to eat there, is it really such a bad thing, I mean t a diet heavy in the types of food Cracker Barrel sells can't be good for you and republicans hate healthcare. Seems like it might be a self-solving problem.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

They hate healthcare until they need it. Then they have a sob story and create a GoFundMe.

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 76 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Its not even political at all. It was just dumb corporate blandness that defeats the purpose of the restsurant's image. Conservatives made it political because their CEO happens to be a woman.

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

McDonald’s and taco bells used to look so cool, now everything is corporate and bland and sterile. Chain Restaurants all look the same now

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

What happened to McDonald’s? Apart from maybe a slight font change, it’s the exact same thing from 70 years ago.

Also, Burger King is an example of ditching a trendy look and going back to an older, more timeless logo.

collapsed inline media

[–] f314@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

I think they’re talking about the restaurants themselves. McDonald’s used to have some wild interiors!

I'm pretty sure conservative media made it political to rile up their base and distract from anything important; ditto the Sydney Sweeny fuckaround

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 73 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Step 1: Get a terrible rebranding done

Step 2: Wag the dog with fake/paid outrage

Step 3: Reverse the decision letting people think they’ve won

Step 4: Profit

It’s New Coke all over again.

Conservatives are fucking dumb

EDIT: this stinks of Fox News outrage. Goes to show how their viewer are so easily led.

[–] QuankyDanks@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I have moments where I think I’m surprised that something stupid matters to people, then I remember how stupid some people are. Thank goodness conservatives are such active participants in the things that matter most

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 6 points 1 day ago

how stupid

There's that, and there is also a massive ecosystem of griftfluencers endlessly manufacturing outrage and pumping it straight into millions of anger addicts, every hour of every day, from Fox News at the top, all the way down to Uncle Jeff on Facebook. The need to get high short-circuits intelligence every time.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 48 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Conservatives are calling this a win? Really???

Cracker Barrel: Changes logo.

Me: Didn't even know this happened months ago. Thats how little I care.

Conservatives: WE WILL FIGHT FOR A FICTIONAL OLD WHITE MAN'S RIGHT TO EXIST IN A LOGO!!!!

Me: Still doesn't give a shit.

Cracker Barrel: Changes logo back.

Me: Still doesn't give a shit.

Conservatives: WE WON!!!!

Me: STILL doesn't give a shit. You're the winner of a game that no one wants to play.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

When you own all three branches of the government, have deported thousands of innocent, disenfranchised people, and you've got civil liberties and democracy on the ropes, but your whole shtick is grievance and vengeance, you get nonsense like this. They need more to things to get mad at to feed the monkey on their back.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

They will always find another bag of Rage Heroin somewhere. Fox can always manufacture more.

I didn't give a shit when they changed it, and I still don't.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 16 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I said it in the last thread and I'll say it again here: I do not give a single flying fuck about any political motivation behind the changing nor changing back of the Cracker Barrel logo, either real or simply perceived, but their new logo was objectively terrible. It was so bland and unmemorable that whoever designed it should have their Macbook confiscated and be catapulted into the ocean. That is, the both of them. But preferably one each into different oceans. I don't know how much that braindead rebrand cost them in consultancy fees but I hope they can ask for a refund.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 18 points 20 hours ago

bland and unmemorable

This is why it was great. It perfectly encapsulated both their food and store. It was an ideal logo for them.

[–] Apeman42@lemmy.world 14 points 9 hours ago

Put the old man back in, but add another man standing behind him with his hand on the first dude's shoulder. They'll flip their shit even harder.

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

I guess it’s easy to win a culture war where you’re the only belligerent

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago

And everybody forgot about the Epstein files and we all lived happily ever after the end.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 10 points 17 hours ago

Good thing this "controversy" came along, I'd all but forgotten the place exists.

A new logo wasn't going to change the fact it's a racist restaurant chain so it's fine by me of they keep the old logo, not like the new logo was going to get me to break my twenty plus year streak of avoiding this place.

Whiny snowflakes got their way and now see that they can threaten more businesses to cater to their WEIRD ASS COMPLAINTS

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 8 points 21 hours ago

🤣 another win for conservatives. I don't know why I even care anymore.

[–] buzz86us@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago

None of them actually care they just want to distract from Epstein.

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 7 points 5 hours ago

Isn't there a single entity with a spine in America?

[–] Presently42@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

What's the problem with the new logo?

[–] 6nk06@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

Bland? No need to change? Why the whole thing?

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

Wait, you mean you weren't boycotting and crying about the old logo and forcing the company to remove the image of the guy sitting by the barrel? I mean, I'm sure ONE of us leftists was outraged and screaming about it and forcing a good, hard-working American company to change its ways, if it wasn't you, then who could it have been??

Well whoever did it, I sure feel "owned" by the right over all this. They sure scored a victory over wokeness on this round 🙄

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 6 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

TBF, I've been boycotting Cracker Barrel for decades. Not because of their positions or anything like that, but because the food is terrible. They're hands down one of the worst chains there is.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago

Kind of like how my boycott of Target was a success, AND i got started much, much sooner than everyone else. (Because they're overpriced and their selection sucks.)

[–] LettyWhiterock@lemmy.world 6 points 18 hours ago (5 children)

Was this just conservatives? I never saw anyone say anything positive about the changes. Potential problems with some decor they might have, I don't think that reasonably translates to completely scrub it of all personality anyway.

[–] normalexit@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

I'm not a conservative, it was either a bad call or a good publicity stunt.

I think I've eaten at a cracker barrel twice, both times were on a roadtrip and it was the most established place off an interstate exit, so purely convenience. I haven't the first clue what they even offer, I just assume it's all chicken fried and covered with gravy.

That there are people out there absolutely losing their mind over the logo change is one of the most confusing things I've ever seen. Who. Fucking. Cares? Goddamn, the group that likes to call everyone else a snowflake, sure is the most infantile people on earth.

That said, I'll avoid cracker barrel from here on. I really don't want to be near the sort of people who frequent that establishment. Kudos to them for so proudly self-identifying...

[–] TorJansen@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

MAGAts can be mighty proud they "goterdun".

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago

I mean... A broken clock is right twice a day and all that

[–] rekabis@lemmy.ca 5 points 23 hours ago

Awww… the new one was so much cleaner and nicer.

[–] tnarg42@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

This almost feels like a bet, or an experiment, by social media political manipulators. Like, one guy says to another, "I bet I can make Cracker Barrel change their logo back in less than two weeks using nothing more than a social media outage campaign." "Deal."

And then they do it, with some carefully planted posts across many platforms, and some well-placed calls to conservative commentators, calling attention to those posts. They successfully demonstrate their social media manipulating prowess, and ultimately sell their wares for the upcoming election cycle.

[–] brax@sh.itjust.works 5 points 19 hours ago

They should increase the cost of of all of their products to cover the increased cost to print their existing logo. There's no way the newer one wasn't cheaper lol
