Which is, of course, fundamentally unideal if not antiquated.
You can have non-alphanumeric characters on license plates? What do the cops do if they need to catch you? Do they put out an APB for emoticons?
Use the cyrillic letter А on your licence plate instead of the latin letter A. All your speeding tickets would be mailed to someone else
Or the 🅰️ emoji
It seems that everybody who doesn't know Cyrillic thinks that Д is the Cyrillic A...
Meanwhile, the guy in ~~the slave labor camp~~ prison making your license plate: "Alright, thats an A, I'll key in an A here"
You do know the cyrillic A is just А(serbian) or А(russian)??
They already consider similar looking letters as the same. If someone has the license plate "OOPS" , if you try and register "00P5" it will say it's taken.

Honestly, as annoying as that'd probably be, it'd also be great. You could likely argue any ticket was a mistake.
I read an article once about a guy who got a NO PLATE licence plate and ended up being automatically blamed whenever a cop wrote in that a car had no licence plate. I wonder what 0X00000 would do.

I think that's what I was actually thinking of but I mixed it up.
They both seem equally plausible. "NO PLATE" would be officers writing it in, and if they left it blank the computer would turn it into NULL.
I bet "BLANK" could cause similar issues

Would be even better if the capitalization was correct. Always bugs me when people capitalize units wrong, but in this case it might have been mandatory.
Have you ever in life seen lower case on a license plate? From any country?
I have never seen an equal sign on any licence plate or road sign. What is your point? I already mentioned that too.
for those who do not get it, this is a reference to the ideal gas law pV = nRT the fac that at equal pressure and temperature the same number of gas molecules (ideal gas) will take the same Volume.

Thanks, I immediately recognized it as a formula but couldn't remember what it was for (in my defense, the last time it was relevant to me was about 15 years ago when I studied electrical engineering).

You saying this reminded me of my mom's old custom plate she had when she was a nurse. She had XOX PRN, which would mean "hugs and kisses, take as needed" on a prescription. A gas station attendant made a comment about her loving porn once and she ended up getting rid of it.
Are there even any states that allow an = ? I bet they drew that on with sharpie
In computer geek world, pv can stand for physical volume which is used in maybe something like LVM for Linux platforms. TMYK
