Burgers instead of actually paying soldiers. What a time to be alive.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

They're getting paid. In order for Trump to actually have power over them, they have to be on federal orders which don't get issued without funding attached. I guarantee none of them would be there for free, because remember that guard soldiers are civilians with regular jobs most of the time. Ain't nobody taking an unpaid vacation to stand around and do nothing for photo ops.

I should remind Couch Fucker Baby Man that protestors at Kent State started with chants and ended with throwing rocks before the National Guard shot 30 people. This will only end with innocent people getting hurt.

[–] Kalothar@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 day ago

They shot at 30 people, 12 were hit and 4 were fatale

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Die innocent or live to be complicit. We're fucked either way.

I didn't know that was Virginia's motto, that's badass! They even back it up with how they voted in the last 3 elections.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That was fifty five years ago.

Also it says four killed and nine wounded. Thirteen does sound like thirty though.

Stewart recently did a podcast where he and his guests talk revolutions. He has a historian and the writer of Andor on for this discussion. Highly relevant and interesting. The random chaos of aligned planets, so to speak, that prefaced the storming of the Bastille was surprising.

There is a formula. But the people don’t always react. I fear we all have such incredible inertia to sit in chairs that nothing will ever change. Vance will be President and we will continue to sit in chairs.

There's even a haunting song to remind us

Next time we probably shouldn't throw rocks.

I vote bags of thermite and molotovs.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This story sparks joy. Every time Vance gets booed an angel gets its wings.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 39 points 1 day ago

“This should be a monument to American greatness,” he said, later adding: “We do not have to live like this.”

Saying the right thing for the wrong reason.

[–] purplerabbit@piefed.blahaj.zone 38 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's the most United States of America headline I have ever fucking read. Oh my god.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

At least he's being booed.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

As he should be.

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago

collapsed inline media

JD Vance maybe dyed his hair to escape a life of crime? To be safe maybe we shouldn't let him near burgers, couches, or political offices.

Hot Take: If someone was calling you a couch-fucker, would you care? You've never fucked a couch. Some guy on the internet said that one time, and the rest of the Libs latched on. Whatever, rolls right off.

Now, if instead you called him a rapist supporter, or pedophile adjacent, it might carry some weight. The couch-fucker thing doesn't phase him, because it's childish and likely untrue. Lets change the discourse.

[–] Draces@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

I care more about what it does to his support. Couch fucker highlights that there's something really off about him. Meanwhile his supporters don't care if he supports rapists and pedophiles or they wouldn't be Republicans. Just call him both

He's a stupid ass, POS, couch fucker that's friends with Pedos

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

rapist supporter? Isn't that like 74 million others?

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (3 children)

And that’s supposed to diminish it?

Yes. I would care. I'm a piece of shit conservative who lives and dies by optics. I'm trying to be president. The moment I'm seen as just a silly little couch fucker I will be ripped apart by the mob.

That's why me and my fellow conservatives are so obviously unaffected. We think about how others will perceive us. We think about it and then we do a little dance so others know we're above it all.

Even if I don't care I can't afford to let people think I do. Trump may be a successful child rapist but this is still a country full of people who will drop you for... seeming excited, or looking silly in a tank, or denying you are a crook.

(I imagined I was Vance. Normal people wouldn't care. A maga vice president is not like your coworkers and neighbors though.)

[–] Evil_Incarnate@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I swear he's VP just to make any assassin think twice about taking the contract for the rapist.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 23 hours ago

Holy crap! This seems true.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I serve you a burger today, if you support fascism tomorrow.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

It doesn’t matter. They know they aren’t liked. They aren’t afraid so they will continue. Booing them won’t change anything. We are officially at the part in history where the guillotines come out.

[–] porksnort@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago

It won’t change Jizzedina Davenport Vance’s mind. It will embolden others to do the same and eventually maybe he gets a proper crowd-sourced spa treatment.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

James Donald Bowman is a mental midget with the IQ of a fence post.

And I will deadname him in every thread that he's mentioned in.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 2 points 23 hours ago

That guy is blind in one eye and he can't see out the other.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

I wonder what city they'll attack next

Is this the military version of the Friday pizza party?
