The 46-year-old had been subject to bouts of violence and sleep deprivation during streams, and died in his sleep during a live broadcast, local media reported.

"Bouts of violence"? Self-harm I assume? The article is severely lacking in details imho.

I saw a video of the man being strangled and decided I can wait for the final report, I don't need to see the source material.

From what i learned from french investigation media Mediapart, it included slapping, strangling, being asked to hit someone else, among other humiliations.

Id find a better source than me for this but from what ive been told a Kick streamer got repeatedly abused when failing challenges or games during his streams. The abusers also streamed and took suggestions from chat on how to abuse him. Kick also promoted their stream. The abused streamer was seen multiplex time panicking or having breakdowns over what the abusers were going to do. Allegedly one of the last things seen was the abusers smashing a glass bottle in his head.

I do not know how much of this is true or made up. Would be very thankful for sources and corrections. I just know Kick is a dogshit platform heavily promoting gamblers on the front page, so this wouldnt surprise me.

There’s some more details here:

https://nypost.com/2025/08/19/media/french-streamer-frequently-humiliated-and-mistreated-on-air-dies-in-sleep-during-livestream-marathon/

https://indianexpress.com/article/trending/trending-globally/tiktok-star-jeanpormanove-dies-during-livestream-torture-challenge-10200847/lite/

I don’t know who, if anyone at all, should be considered guilty here.

Edit: Found a thread on X going deeper on it. I do think this was a torture and murder now that I’ve seen parts of the stream myself. They weren’t hitting him really hard, but the guy had heart issues and they really weren’t allowing him to sleep well. I can see while you’re in the middle of it it might look like it’s all fun and games but in retrospect the entire thing looks perverse as fuck.

I've checked out this platform and I got to say I don't get streaming at all. It's just sooooooo boring. Who's watching this? What do people get out of it?

Kick is a streaming platform?

I always thought it was some weird messaging platform that scammers always used. Now I get it

Kick is uncensored Twitch. It's usually where people go after getting banned for racism or whatever on Twitch

Ok well, guess I'm not curious enough to explore now if it's just banned twitchers
