Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Only 37%? That’s chump change.

Do better.

37% in 6 months. It takes a long time for international travel plans to change. That's a significant number who canceled a fully planned/booked trip, and even more that were tentative.

I'd really like to see the data graphed by month.

Yeah, what is WRONG with the other 63%?!

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 day ago

Exactly! As a US citizen, I urge everyone not to come to this shithole of a country.

it will drop, once the planned in advanced vacations are over, we will probably see more effect around thanksgiving, and then even more by December.

From a May 2025 StatsCan data report published in July, 63.9% of the 1.5M Canadian crossborder automobile trips were day-trips. That could be commuters for work in a bordering community, a gas fill up, grocery run, going to an event, a park, or museum kind of visit. So only 541k Canadians were camping or staying at hotels in the US that month, the majority of the rest were probably border town residents going back and forth, not doing too many tourist-y things.

Yes fuck us Canada. If you love us you’ll fuck us as hard as you can. It’s the only way.

Please keep it up! Until our government and voters feel the pressure, nothing will change.

because tourism mostly feeds RED state tourist industry the most. also another side benefit the "immigrants arnt picking up crops or wokring hospitality, so its also a double whammy.

a mix of Trump administration policies and statements that have shifted sentiment and raised concerns among many potential travelers,” including adversarial trade negotiations, statements challenging national sovereignty, and immigration and border security measures

This is the first article I've seen that doesn't just say it's because of tariffs. I'm glad they're finally getting it

once we see 100%, its early pandemic levels of "tourism"

I fully support getting that # to 100%.
