Low bar, but agreed

For real, this is the first bit of completely good news I've heard about him since the election.

I saw Trudeau march in Toronto pride circa 2017. Probably the biggest 'celebrity' I've seen in person. He had a popemobile of 8-10 huge security dudes around him trying to look as plain-clothed as possible (as cops, not paraders) with huge duffel bags around their shoulders (rifles). It was cool to see him there, I understood the security, but I also got a bit of a chuckle out of the security trying to conceal themselves as people who happened to be in a parade but seemed oblivious to it - against him in a colourful shirt smiling and waving at everyone

It's pretty disappointing that only two PMs have joined the Pride fun, but hopefully it's a tradition that continues.

Wow we've only had 2?? I guess there is no way Harper would do this.

Hopefully there are many more in the future.

Cool, I hope he got an earful about opening further asylum pathways for LGBTQ+ people from the US and beyond.

hey I'm all for that but just like for everyone else, where are they going to go? I live in Toronto and I saw first hand what happened when we opened up asylum pathways for people from African nations. they were all living outside of central intake on peter street. and the fallout from that still hasn't been addressed. People did die as a result and many more fell to mental illness and addiction to cope.

So I'm all for it but the last thing I want is for these people to be sleeping outside. We need affordable housing before we start accepting more people into the country. It's not fair to them to promise them a free and safe life when we can't even offer that.

Excellent concerns to be addressed to the prime minister, which I am not.

If I had the PM's power my answer to you would be a mix of (a) ramp up a huge public housing program, like we had post-WW2 since we already have a housing crisis, and (b) combine that with a settlement program directing people towards under-populated parts of the country (eg the Maritimes) or the central prairies. Couple that with fast track recognition of professional credentials (healthcare, trades, engineering, etc).

well I'd vote for you.

Performative moral liberalism, same as most Democrats in the US.

This is a guy sending weapons to Israel to mass murder Palestinians: he clearly doesn't as a principle care about oppressed minorities.
