It always bothered me that the USA has some weird internal borders. Why is it a line? Why? That is wrong on so many levels.

This post was made by the EU gang. 🇪🇺

The early colonies had some borders by longitude or latitude and we just kept on with it like the stubborn asses that we are.

Colorado: "Fuck rivers, we are going all in on latitude and longitude!"

Utah: "That sounds awesome, we are also going to go all in!"

Wyoming: "Fuck Utah!"

Every US state has at least one straight line segment for a border except for Hawaii (duh). Not in an infinitesimal way, they all have a long straight line somewhere.

Some of our borders are natural or caused by conflict like yours, but others are a bunch of politicians dividing land they've never seen. The squares are all the latter situation

Europeans complaining about straight lines on a border when they made 2/3rds of the world have them.
