I love the exchange, but the backdrop of capitalism demanding results is grim.

I just want everyone to enjoy exploring and sharing without worrying about grants...

That would only hurt the Democratic Party if it split at approximately the same ratio as the Republican Party. If half of Republicans split while only a tenth of Democrats split, the results favor Democrats majorly.

That said, we don't have anywhere near enough data.

I do hate holidays as a working stiff:

In America at least slaves often raised their own masters. It was an entire category of enslaved people: house slaves.

Much like the European aristocrasy and upper crust left their children to governesses and wet nurses to rub elbows with the rest of high society, so did the Big Whites of America and the Carribean.

Free breakfast ends at 10, but I'll be damned if I dont eat it and go straight back to bed.

It's common to the point of mootness, but: when describing the planet, Earth is a proper noun and should be capitalized. Otherwise you are referring to soil.

I've recently come into possession of a large number of Mason jars. Being a fan of sauerkraut and knowing of Lemmy's significant German/Czech populatuon, I'd like to ask how you make the best sauerkraut. What do you add beyond salt and cabbage? How do you store it?

I suppose this may also apply to kimchi and other pickled foods, too!
