When the fuck am I going to stop learning about celebrity deaths via memes?!

Edit: (above statement is rhetorical)

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (2 children)

When you disconnect from social media and meme-farming websites.

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fair lol; I should have added a rhetorical tag to my comment.

I gotta go back to living under a rock on my retro games and craft hobbies and wait for my loved ones to tell me so I can preserve my sanity at this point

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What kind of crafts do you make?

What’s your favourite retro game?

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I haven’t properly crafted in a while but I love to bake, and I used to draw and do (very beginner level) origami! Working on getting back into both, very slowly.

Absolute favorite retro game is hard, but I think it’s a toss up between Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite or Deus Ex 1 (and its fan game, “The Nameless Mod”).

Very well, I accept my fate.

[–] Pappabosley@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I don't have to rely on memes, because after my sister mentioned a couple of celebrity deaths in the family group chat, we nominated her to keep is informed of all celebrity deaths.

The future sucks man

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When you start reading news as much as you look at memes.

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I had to root out stories for Val Kilmer because they were nowhere on my news apps when it happened - and that one I only caught due to a smart TV ad.

You make a solid point though. I should probably curate RSS feeds since Apple News has been garbage the past 1.5 years so I’ve avoided it, and the All feed here is constant US politics and hackernews articles.

I didn't know Val Kilmer died until I read this comment.

Listen to your local FM radio and public owned TV broadcasts.

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

You forgot the /s

[–] leftthegroup@lemmings.world 2 points 2 days ago

This sounds like stretching the word "celebrity" pretty far.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 19 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They come in threes: Ozzy, Hulk, Chuck. The rest of the celebs are safe. For now.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 26 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Malcolm Jamal Warner died before all of them the other day.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Damn, Theo died?

I don’t know what became of him, but that dyslexia episode was a big one for me growing up.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah he got pulled away by the rip tide and drowned in the ocean from what I heard.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Looks like Costa Rica. I’ve been there. Perfect water, then boom, the tide starts dragging your ass out.

I wonder if he knew how to get out, or if he just encountered a riptide that was aggressively wide.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

So scary. The death anxiety must be through the roof.

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So when Prince and David Bowie died, who was the third?

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 6 points 2 days ago

Alan Rrrrickman.

Ah fuck I forgot.

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They died for months apart, but Gene Wilder died four months after Prince.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

2016 was so messed up.

[–] callouscomic@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The threes thing is made-up bullshit. Boomer bullshit actually.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 2 days ago

Do you think I believe that stupid bullshit or do you think I was playing into a stupid trope because it's mildly amusing? If you answered the former, you're not good at being on the internet.

[–] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

This doesn't feel so good.

[–] Dis32@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

It doesn't feel so good, man.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Technically, the "King of the Hill" curse is going to be proven true given enough time.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Its like the Babylon 5 curse. The curse is called life. Life leads to death for everyone.
