I must've missed this, what did he say?
He has on several occasions offered praise to the Trump Republican Party. He quote tweeted a post from Truth Social where Trump announced his nominee for Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division at the Department of Justice:
Great pick by
@realDonaldTrump
. 10 years ago, Republicans were the party of big business and Dems stood for the little guys, but today the tables have completely turned. People forget that the current antitrust actions against Big Tech were started under the first Trump admin.
When the response to this tweet was negative, the official Reddit account doubled-down:
Here is our official response, also available on the Mastodon post in the screenshot:
Corporate capture of Dems is real. In 2022, we campaigned extensively in the US for anti-trust legislation.
Two bills were ready, with bipartisan support. Chuck Schumer (who coincidentally has two daughters working as big tech lobbyists) refused to bring the bills for a vote.
At a 2024 event covering antitrust remedies, out of all the invited senators, just a single one showed up - JD Vance.
By working on the front lines of many policy issues, we have seen the shift between Dems and Republicans over the past decade first hand.
Dems had a choice between the progressive wing (Bernie Sanders, etc), versus corporate Dems, but in the end money won and constituents lost.
Until corporate Dems are thrown out, the reality is that Republicans are more likely to tackle Big Tech abuses.
This post was then deleted with Yen claiming it was a "miscommunication" and pledging that Proton would stop offering its political opinions.
It'sucks that he's cheering trump but the things he says about democrats are entirely plausible... I mean... would anyone be surprised that politicians are corrupt regardless of the party?
He doesn't say that, he says Trump's party cares about the little people over big corporations, even when they're the ones putting people on places of power for huge bribes from their big corporations while deporting the little people.
Basically said that Trump was a nice guy with good politics, and he cheered him up.

I'm very happy with Proton.
Same here.
I am, as well.
proton team too
Switched to Tuta and bought a domain. It's been great so far. I can create an email alias with this domain for each service I use. Also have a proton free account but not sure yet what I will use it for (it was for testing before). I also created a disroot account since I really like what they are doing.
I'm also using Tuta. Very user friendly. I also have a StartMail account. Kindly depending which one I want to keep using. Maybe Tuta for personal things and my StartMail mail address for subscriptions and business related.
I've been using mailbox.org since a while. Reliable and 12โฌ per year, can't really complain. Easy domain name too
I use posteo.de, and are very happy with it.
posteo going well for me too!
I switched to Posteo too and it's perfect for my needs.
I've been using it for a couple of years now, quite happy with it too.
Ive switched to Proton. Ofc only found out about their CEO after switching, but the have my trust for one. Also really enjoying their other services (password manager, VPN, Drive). Switched to a Duo subscription together with my brother. Quite content so far
I switched to Proton as well, on a Duo subscription together with my boyfriend.
I also took the opportunity to set up my own email domain, so I can be more mobile with my choice in mail provider.
Mailbox.org for me
I've migrated some stuff but lots still to update.
I'm on the lowest tier and only have the 3 aliases, I think it may be worth using multiple aliases from what I keep reading online, so may need to upgrade tier before I migrate more accounts.
Tuta has been great.
Proton choked down my chargeback after they said some unwarranted nice things about US republicans.
I moved to proton, then found out about their CEO (fuck Nazi apologists) and moved again to tuta. I've been very happy with their service. It's just email/calendar, so more like 'no issues to report'.
I've had a proton account since 2016 but be er really used it much. I am now using it as my main account and have mothballed Gmail but will eventually delete Google altogether.
I have gone one step further and started a an email provider. Hosted in Frankfurt, backup in Amsterdam.
Custom domain Webmail, IMAP, pop, all with TLS obviously Calendar, tasks, contacts sync all in one, all Foss solutions. Anti spam, anti virus
Haven't figured out how to sell that yet, or at what price, but I'm working on that. XD
Proton. Because i know how to read, and people had twisted the CEOs words completely beyond what was written. Reading โandโ comprehension folks. Try to build both skills.
Anyone who has a different opinion than mine is necessarily an idiot
Switched my custom domain to mailbox.org from icloud
Been in the proton ecosystem for 5 years, never leaving
Tuta!
Tuta has been cool. Not sure if I want to commit yet though. Hate that can't use thunderbird with a free-account but I am considering just getting a paid account.
Mailbox.org
Mailbox. For the imap support.
I switched to Proton a few days ago, can't complain for the moment!
Posteo here ๐โโ๏ธ
I switched to Proton too
mailbox.org I still have iCloud as second mail, while I tried to exclude Gmail as much a I could, but I cannot delete it entirely yet. Right know about 90% of all the email are on Mailbox.
I've set up my Proton mail but haven't moved stuff over yet. Any good alternatives to Google Authenticator?
I use Aegis, an open source alternative that works just like Google and Microsoft Authenticator.
I use 2FAs. It's open-source but it seems to be based in Nevada.. Otherwise great app.
IDK what Google Authenticator does, but I just use KeepassXC's TOTP feature for my 2FA.
Did not need to switch as I've been using my own domain names (French registrar with French and/or German hostings) since I created my first website... back when quite a few of you reading this today were not even born yet. No, that does not mean I'm that old. Absolutely not :p
I also have a proton and a tuta account (and @ mailbox.org one), just in case someone prefers a more privacy-friendly email than my non-encrypted domain emails, and since neither tuta or Proton are compatible when exchanging encrypted emails, I have both. That being said, I seldom use them: most people simply don't care about privacy.
I use(d to use) gmail for all crappy online stuff I don't care much about losing access to. I will probably end up getting rid of it entirely but, to me at least, even though I know it's possible to do it without a YT account, that would also mean quit watching YT, which is something I still appreciate doing.
I've been with tuta using a custom domain for a couple years now. Started switching most my services away from Google et al for pro privacy reasons a long time ago. It just so happens that these kind of decisions end up with the same results as moving to EU based solutions.
I feel like for most people their email account is just somewhere their emails go. And trust me there are plenty of options out there. If Google Calendar etc is something that your missing, then look for a alternative calendar service rather than an email service.
I moved to notion. I think the CEO story is somewhat overblown. But Iโm using custom domains in case Iโm proven wrong, which will make it easy to switch if I have to.
Imfomaniak for me, not sure if it was the best choice, but at least I made a move.
Tutmail for me. 15 email addresses included..
I have been using the free Proton, but I'm very tempted by Mail+. Something just feels strange about paying for email after it being free for 20 years
