/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

She and Boimler would have gotten along nicely.

Yeah but it was priced at like ~$430. I was disappointed by that. Too expensive for me.

EDIT: I realize this was the U.S. tariffs likely having an impact. It would have been nice if The Wand Company could have let U.S. based buyers know what the intended price was prior to the tariff impact. Secondly due to the way it sold out when it initially went on sale in the U.K., having no public listing means I can’t go back and buy this without a private link that TWC is emailing. Old links don’t work in this case.

Techmoan had a fun review of that within the past month or two.

I got the Enterprise, & the Type-2 phaser and communicator set; it didn't hurt too much. The price on this tricorder is eye-watering. Apparently, nostalgia is expensive.

Edit: I have a cheaper, plastic version. This kit is aluminum; it's still pricey, but seems justified.

What I actually want is a modern smart phone that's built to look like a tricorder.

Most of it could be hollow, proving you with a cool murse/purse in the bargain! People would mock you for having a murse, but then you'd crush them by showing that it's actually a fully functional tricorder. Only you would know its mursey secret.

And then everyone would clap.

Is murse a portmanteau of man and purse?

It disgusts me.

Or at least an attempt to add masculinity to any male carrying a satchel.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 2 points 3 hours ago

I don't think adding a man- prefix adds masculinity though. More like signals one's own insecurity. But I once saw man-wipes on someone's restroom, so what do I know?
