Is this where citizens start an initiative to stop buying US goods for national security? I'd sign it in a heartbeat.

I donโ€™t think so. But right now weโ€™re trying to encourage people to buy European as much as possible.

Are there any bulk suppliers or retail owners in this community? In particular fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) are a major element in almost everybody's life and can be used to send a very strong signal. Imagine if all rural stores in a particular area started only selling European stuff. We need those providers here and have a solid business plan for them to adopt such goods, it needs to be economically feasible

Iโ€™m not sure if we have such individuals. Though I do like the idea.

Weโ€™re currently highlighting the European brands that do exist so we can increase the demand from the bottom up, to increase the pressure on our representatives and large companies to buy local.

And that's what trump was after, requiring increased military spending for all Nato members. Nauseating as Mark Rutte's 'diplomacy' may have been, he could've at least ensured that the money was spent within Europe. Come to think of it, what proportion of the military funding will be spent within Europe?

Rutte seems like the typical right wing little bitch. He'll bow to Putin and Trump every chance he gets. A terrible choice for Secretary General.

Time for mass protests. European citizen should force their governments to change their decision and have Europe build more of it's own weapons, and not have a trade deal.

This guy sounds like he is too weak to lead the EU right now.

There are a lot of politicians who only look after there own interests, but not after the interests of the people

Trump's plan all along. He'll sell military equipment en masse to Europe, to save his economy which he's otherwise killing. EU economy in the drain is a bonus for him, he sees us as enemies (economically and increasingly ideologically)

[โ€“] Squizzy@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

We are not circling the drain and our defense spending wont be enough to stabilisie his economy.

What you need to be wary of is how thr EU takes big tech contracts like Palantir into everyday lives.

This what that "Daddy" was about. Submitting to the orange turd

[โ€“] Safeguard@beehaw.org 4 points 22 hours ago

Yeah, we will buy some more bog standard nato rounds. Nothing with a computer or that could possible come with the need of maintenance.

Our leaders opened their legs to Trump and the European people are the ones who get screwed.

Unfortunately our representatives lack a spine, they have no problem bowing down to a Putin like figure.

[โ€“] Tenderizer@lemm.ee -1 points 1 day ago

It's just assumed that some American military equipment will be bought. It isn't explicitly agreed that they'll buy American.
