Are they really making this mistake again?

I believe it was during 2020 that a bunch of k-pop fans reserved tons of seats at a rally and embarrassed the admin by having a pretty empty venue. Maybe it happened later, but that’s how I remember it.

Did they actually embarrass them or did the cameras focus on the filled areas and then the administration points to the number of registrations as "proof" that it wasn't empty?

That's pretty much the outcome I expect from this. :(

Last time it deeply hurt Trump's ego and what started the talk about banning tiktok.

They couldn't even get a .gov domain for it? :P

So technically all government offices facilities, departments, and services go through Congress for approval. Including USPS Building (not local post offices though because those are owned and operated by contractors).

However they already stopped following those rules when they kicked everyone out of the US Digital Services department to move DOGE in.

For anyone curious, there are likely going to be no/few bleachers. This seems to be mostly a standing event.

So this won't lead to "empty seats" in the sense that there are a bunch of actually reserved spots that nobody shows up to, but rather that they'll probably just over-count the number of expected guests, and maybe leave a bit more of a gap behind the barriers than they otherwise would have, which could just make the crowd look sparser compared to their predictions.

Looks like you just violated 18 U.S. Code § 1030 - Fraud and related activity in connection with computers. To El Salvador with you. /s

Can't even make up numbers now, it's forced text verification.

Use temporary texting numbers kek

[–] JeSuisUnHombre@lemmy.zip 14 points 18 hours ago

I was just trying to do that but all the numbers I'm pulling up have already been used. Which is kind of great but also I want in on the fun.

What are temporary texting numbers?

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I only know of google voice, but they will issue a free number for you, and you can use that to send and receive all communications you’d get on a real phone line, so calls, voicemail, and texts.

[–] AmbitiousProcess@piefed.social 9 points 16 hours ago

Google Voice works.

Other services like TextNow will also give you a virtual number.
