Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Imagine thinking his voice matters more than Thiel's voice.

I really loathe narcistic billionaires and hate paying any attention to them at all. But 2 narcisstic billionaires fighting each other? That I like to watch.

Lol like they are gonna do that. Usa are the most incompetent nation in the world, they just watch as their 'democracy' disintegrates into fascism

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago

looks around... what democracy?

[–] megopie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago

Lmao, two idiots fighting. This seemed kind of inevitable, they’re not compatible personality types to work with each other.

Elon definitely thinks he has more influence with trump’s crowd than he actually has, but I also think his position at twitter makes him dangerous to trump by undermining his ability to reach a lot of people who haven’t fully crawled down the maga conspiracy pipeline.

I don’t think he’s going to be able to shift much support to Vance ether. Vance and his ilk are just to weird for most trump supporters.

Next week headline "musk dead from ketimine overdose, that caused him fall on some bullettes"

And leave JD Vance in charge?! Are you mad?! Can we just nuke the line of succession?

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, I agree. We should put Trump in a peach and roll him off a cliff.

Did the simulation break?

This is so fucking bizzare.

Some truman-show shit to see how we (the non-actors of this world) react.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 6 points 22 hours ago

I seriously don't know anyone didn't see this coming or how anyone is remotely surprised. I'm just surprised it took this long, I thought they would keep it together for at least half the term to meet their own goals.

They hated each other from the beginning, they always were about to shred out the throat of the other one. Smarter people in roles of power are good at keeping their shit under their hat, but neither of these men are smart.

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

The main character of the world was that guy who did dumb shit like shipping coal to newcastle and bed pans to the tropics but was massively successful anyway, all of the rest of us were just NPCs for that one guy and now that he's dead the rest of the universe has no meaning anymore.

Just the inevitable result when two thin-skinned narcissists are in the same room.

[–] Jolly_Platypus@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

If anyone could make a conviction happen, it's Musk. He need only threaten to fund primary challengers for 10 Republicans in the house and ~15 senators.

He's got the money to do it.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Woah, woah, dial it back Ketamine Elmo. You gotta save some for tomorrow.

He's just so nutty.

Is it really as simple as the bill being unfavorable for Elno?

So as long as the bill had not harmed US car manufacturers for example he would've continued his bullshit loyalty?

I just don't really understand what's happening or why.

[–] Kraiden@kbin.earth 8 points 1 day ago

Sounds like you understand perfectly, you're just still thinking of them as rational adults. If you think of them both as toddlers, everything makes a lot more sense. Trump pinched Musk, so Musk is having a fat sad. Simple as that.

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I think Trump might deport this African immigrant for being part of some plot against the government.

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Who will win this fight?

Everybody!

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Let's see if it's real or more kabuki.

If Trump announces cancellation of major contracts with Musk-owned firms, it's probably real. Otherwise, not.

The silver lining to the shit show of the last 9 months is that the Republican drama has finally gotten entertaining.

[–] iamjackflack@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

Yessss let the hate flow through you

I’m sure we are wanting this for very different reasons.
