Yeah, when my comment is too long, I just write it down in a text editor and save it to local storage, then copy it into the field in the browser and send.
This Lemmy web UI seems pretty reliable in this case though. Even if it fails to send, it doesn't delete my written text, unlike a lot of other POST forms, which made made have the habit.
Not at all. My changes are trash and this button reflects that.

That's just the "Save and delete" button.
It uploads your data to help train AI, but then shares with nobody else.
Saved in /dev/null which I've discovered has infinite storage space for write-once-read- never data.
It's not red, so it's not a dangerous button.
Yeah, color and text say save, icon says delete. So it's a 2 to 1 chance it's going to save. Good odds!
