I'm not Southern, but I'll hoover up a dozen of those deviled eggs in a second!
The English word "devil", in reference to highly seasoned food, was in use in the 18th century, with the first known print reference appearing in 1786.[2] In the 19th century, the adjective "deviled" came to be used most often with spicy or zesty food, including eggs prepared with mustard, pepper, or other ingredients stuffed in the yolk cavity.[
I have wondered why they were called deviled eggs for a while. Now I have a greater understanding of why some of my WASP and Appalachian family think anything with more than salt and black pepper is "too spicy".
Apparently I'm from the family branch that not only buys Anal Prolapser Hot Sauce from Ace Hardware, but also makes and sells it
DIE EIER VON SATAN
Eine messerspitze turkisches haschisch
und KEINE EIER!!!
I need an explanation for this one...
Deviled Eggs are a popular party food item made by hard boiling an egg, removing the yolk, then mixing the yolk with other ingredients like mayonnaise and mustard, and then putting this filling back in the hard boiled egg white.
Don't forget dusting them with paprika!
Try with cayenne, it's amazing.
And here I thought it was because of a bunny…
Silly rabbit, bun buns dust with cocoa puffs, not paprika!
Deviled eggs
Me too, but I'm slightly scared at the same time...
Took me a minute. Deviled eggs.
Also a fan of his lettuce.
