- Dude sets up community, is sole moderator
- Dude sets up autoban bot
- Sole moderator makes a post
- Autoban bot deletes the post and bans the sole moderator
Sounds like a typical Microsoft experience.
The usual instance-wide rules also apply.
Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)
Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.
Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc
(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

Sounds like a typical Microsoft experience.
Isn't that the one who thought they were being brigaded when people kept downvoting their posts?
Yes, saw that the other day as well, reminded me of the "flat earth discussion" policy initiated by LW and then cancelled due to the backlash, that was quite something
Must be out of the loop, what’s LW?
Lemmy.world
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that makes sense
What was that?
poking fun at its cultish, toxic community.
I don't feel like I'm in a cult.
But then again...that's just what someone in a cult would say...
Oh..God...NOOOOOOOO!!!!!
/s (obviously)
Not sure why that post got removed specifically. I think it was just run of the mill linuxsucksposting.
Heavy handed moderation as audience likes it.
It says "automod." Maybe there's a setting where things get deleted and users banned if they instantly get 10000 downvotes.
Primus sucks.
Jerry was a racecar driver
Was there anything wrong with c/linuxsucks@lemmy.world ? Maybe madthumbs has other grief with lemmy.world, I'm not sure.
It was an unpopular shitpost community.
As a Linux user, I can enjoy memes about real problems with Linux, but his posting went beyond memes and straight into hate boner territory. He once said something about how open source is bad because a company charging money for services creates jobs.
Anything other than circle jerking about 'Linux bad Windows good' got you banned.
So, it was a problem with the community moderation then. The new community is moderated by the same person, no reason it will go any different then.
Exactly. He's just looking for a place to stake his little fiefdom where he can circle jerk about how bad Linux is, no matter how incorrect he might be. There's no implying that Dear Leader is wrong, just stroke or get banned.
The moderation not so much the content was what was wrong with it.
Linux needs criticism and you hear the voices of the less tech savvy if it wants to grow its user base and gain wider adoption, similar to lemmy. But if that discussion is a bad faith, "Linux is bad and you can't change my mind" posts, with enforcement via moderation, then it's not useful to anyone really.
The moderation of the community or the instance? Madthumbs is also the mod at linuxsucks@lemmy.world
In This specific example, the issue was purely with the community and sole moderator.
Ok, so the new community will not change anything in that regard.
I use Linux and I think a lot of the criticisms are not only valid, but often hilarious. Everyone who uses Linux has funny stories about fucking up their system doing something they shouldn’t have.
I've totally done some things with dd
which could have been in an episode of Silicon Valley.
It's a meme community, calm down
Memes are important man. People have written PhD dissertations in this shit.
It was more Kauffman esque performance art.
Wait, the auto mod permabanned the actual mod? That’s hilarious.
A comedy in two acts. Well done.
I hope they can establish themselves somewhere, I wanna have a good laugh at their opinions every now and then.
A lock without a key
