Nah, he's a big Trump fan, he wasn't ever going to hold fast on this. He's smart enough to know he needs to make appropriate noises, but he wasn't ever going to let the surcharges go into effect.

[–] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago

I'm not surprised at all. Ford is a well known Trump cuck. He has to make appropriate noises to keep sitting at the top, but he was never going to hold fast on the surcharges.

[–] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 4 points 8 hours ago

He also is a mega Trump fan, the surcharges were performative theatre. He may have stuck with them, but we all know he was hoping he could weasel out of it somehow.

I mean, the US has been a major violator of human rights for...decades? Longer? Since it's inception possibly? I mean just look at their prison system. Or the whole Guantanamo thing. Or the ICE concentration camps.

Only if it actually worked as the salespeople said it does

That's the thing. It's been talked about for over a year now, but LLM "AI" won't ever lead to AGI. It doesn't matter how big you make the model, it's never going to actually qualify.

Sorry, I should have been clear, I by no means thought you were hating on it!
I'm literally just hearing about Revolt now. And I've had a bad day so far, that obviously came through in my previous comment. I'm sorry, rereading my last comment, it's a bit belligerent.
Thanks for taking the time to explain like I'm 5 and throwing a tantrum. 🤦 Sorry again.

  1. File size limits on the default instance are 20mb.

But it's configurable right? Should be looking through configurations anyway.

  1. Its not federated.

I'd argue that not everything needs to be federated. Some things would definitely benefit from federation, but I'm not entirely sure that this is one of them.

  1. It's not encrypted.

This IS a bit of a major negative. But point 2 and point 3 seems to be in conflict. I'm definitely not an expert, and don't pretend to be. But to my limited, layman's, knowledge wouldn't being federated and encrypted not really work out? What would be the point in encrypting all communication between the server instance and client, to then federate it out to other servers?

I'm not trying to be contrarian here, I'm really asking, is that something that would:

  1. Work.
  2. Makes sense to do

Or is the lack of encryption a security risk for server operators? I'm not getting the point, obviously. And I'd like to know what your thinking on this is.

[–] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago

Yeah, that works too

That's the thing. They always were shit, just with Trump's War on Woke, they now feel like the money they've always spent on good will of the public, DEI programs, keeping a muzzle on the racist/misogynistic/bigoted person running the company isn't really needed. Now all that "wasted" money can go where it belongs...into shareholder profits.

I should clarify that it could be Inuit lands that Trump may be seeking to control in case other indigenous people are wondering what the fuck I am talking about. Sorry.

We'll make a Canadian of you yet ;)
You're ok buddy. There's currently the whole gamut of Canadian FN currently living (i.e. - not necessarily on reserve) in the Northern Territories.
2021 census data, Indigenous population by Territory.

There were also more than just Inuit historically living in the North West Territories.

And Ontario:

Prior to contact with the European settlers, our Nations and Peoples – the Anishinaabek, Mushkegowuk, Onkwehonwe, and Lenape – have thrived since time immemorial in what is now known as the province of Ontario on Turtle Island (North America).

And all the other provinces too, just need to get to bed and don't have the energy to dig up more examples.

Yeah, lots of very close parallels between treatment of Australian and Canadian indigenous people's.
