This reminds me of a joke:

So this guy is drinking at the bar after work, and he has a few too many and ends up puking on himself. He says, "Shit, when my wife finds out I got this drunk, she's gonna kill me." The bartender says, "I know how you can get out of it. Take a twenty out of your wallet and put it in your shirt pocket. When you get home, tell your wife that some other guy puked on you, and gave you the twenty to cover the dry cleaning."

So the guy decides to try that. He gets home and, sure enough, his wife asks him what happened. He says, "I went to happy hour with some coworkers, and some guy that looked like he'd been there all day threw up on me. He gave me twenty dollars to cover the dry cleaning bill." She says, "Why do you have forty dollars, then?" He says, "He also shit in my pants."

dude... You made me laugh out loud next to my wife while we're watching a boring show... you owe me 20(?)

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I got you fam, 20 rubles, 20 yen, 20... What?

[–] swab148@lemm.ee 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

20 questions, learn all they know

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Aww! Let's get to know each other!

[–] svcg@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 5 days ago

Would you like to hear that in song form? https://youtu.be/RdpwWoWOyFk

I know it's fun to dunk on the asshole ruining our country, but I don't think we should be in the habit of sharing shopped images. That's what the extremists do, and then claim it's real. We have to be better than them. Plus, they'll use us distributing the memes as evidence of "Dems spreading fake news!"...

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 35 points 5 days ago (2 children)

They do it themselves and already accuse everyone else of sharing fake stuff. Has the moral high ground really worked so far?

All I see is that lies and appeal to emotion is what has given them real power. So when it comes to ridiculing the trump administration, I say fuck it, the alternative hasn't worked so far. It's only gotten worse

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

It has nothing to do with morality. People largely distrust politicians and politics in general. "Never Trump" Republicans and middle-of-the-road Independents. People we actually do need to vote. They'll say "both sides are the same" when they're obviously not. When we prove them right by stooping to the extremists' level, they disengage, along with millions of other people. They won't trust us, and why should they?

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (5 children)

And I ask again, has that call to voting and high-roading strategy worked so far? All I see is a fascist US that will now inevitably end in bloodshed. People already disengaged without the opposition "stooping down to extremist levels". I'd even argue that that sort of weak opposition is exactly why people disengaged in the first place

Not to mention, the US is beyond that stage now. Fascism has arrived there, and it has entrenched itself. It will not leave peacefully, just like it didn't historically. No matter what, it's time for new strategies

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Literally no one is saying to use the "high road", I'm saying that, as a strategy, using disinformation will not accomplish our goals. And that's not even taking into account the results. You think tricking people into following us based on doctored images will get loyal, dependable supporters??

Look, you have your opinion and I have mine. Plenty of progressive think tanks, organizations, podcasts, etc will do focus groups and surveys closer to the midterms elections. At which point we'll have a better understanding of voters and messaging... In the meantime, I can only speak for myself: I, personally am far less likely to support any candidate that uses disinformation and blatant lies. Am I alone? Maybe. But I'm willing to bet there's millions more that feel the same way...

agreed. it's appropriate sometimes, especially when humor and mockery is being used to generate a sentiment/vibe. no one believes this meme image is meant to establish an orderly basis of factual reality based consensus about Trump. it's a joke.

besides, there is no amount of "high roading" with facts and logic that will reverse millions of hours of targeted brainwashing that caused a third of the population to vote against their own interests. we need to use multiple tactics, and appeals to humor/vibes/insults is one way we can make those backwards voters feel differently.

end of the day, subtle manipulation of images to create a vibe WORKS on people and shifts perceptions. the left should weaponize it to achieve goals, imo.

[–] eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I am so far past the point of giving a fuck about arguments that end with "and the Republicans will say..."

Naw, fuck em. They’re going to accuse that anyways.

if there's nothing to claim as evidence they will just invent something like they always do.

No taking the high ground is what got us where we are today.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

High Ground my fuckin ass.

Theres a billion things that he and republicans have legitimately done, that can be used to dunk on them, and criticize them, and attack them over. Up to and even including shitting himself, Theres plenty of stories of staff talking about the stench on The Apprentice. Plenty of pictures showing his actual, depends poofed ass.

And you choose to just run with lies and make shit up.

Thats not high ground.

Thats, at best, pure fucking uninspired laziness, and at worse.. Its downright republican infiltrator/propagandist activity, muddying the waters and trying to discredit actual, factual shit.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I know, right? You don't have to make shit up to make Trump look like a dickhead. Everything he says, does and believes should give you plenty of material to do that.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Exactly. the things to legitimately use are as lush, fruitful and plentiful as the densest jungle.

yet people wanna pretend to be in a barren desert and defend mirages instead.

i agree, We dont relly need photoshops and lies, when theres plenty of truth out there thats humiliating enough as is.

but as you can see, theres a lot of people who don't give a shit about right, as long as they can dunk on the person they dont like. Same issue as those fake TPUSA tweets people were obsessed with making a few years ago. Does nothing but muddy waters and provide cover for right wing actions.

Why does a man infamous for shitting himself on the reg for decades, think that light coloured trousers are something to even entertain in the wardrobe.

Also does someone have an antidote to this image? I think it maybe caused a minor trauma

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 26 points 5 days ago (6 children)
[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 51 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If it's not a real picture, what is it made of?

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 26 points 5 days ago

I mean there're plenty of accounts of him shitting himself around people. Whether the pic is real or not, the man should not own light trousers and should have realised this when he was getting hosed down every time they finished an episode of The Apprentice.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 18 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Okay, I looked in image search and this came up. My eyes and ears are bleeding and I blame you.

Needs very minor tweaks to look like him

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Someone should turn this into an ad for adult diapers.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That cannot be, I saw it with my own eyes

Is this Jhonen Vasquez or just something that reminds me of his style?

[–] gabereal@sopuli.xyz 16 points 5 days ago

It's Jhonen's. From 'Johnny the Homicidal Maniac'. This bit pops into my head at least a few times a year, and has since about 2002 or so when I first read it.

[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)

It does look like his work. Didn't he turn out to be a predatory weirdo or a jerk or something?

[–] Whateley@lemm.ee 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No, he's just a prickly asshole who seems annoyed to have fans.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 4 points 5 days ago

Which is on-brand with the stuff he creates, I have to admit.

[–] synae@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 5 days ago

I think just a run-of-the-mill jerk? Don't think I've ever heard of any kind of scandal or abuse or whatever

[–] FUCKING_CUNO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 days ago

Holy shit, I never see JTHM referenced! SQUEEEEEE

[–] whoisearth@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sweat? Dude is like 300 pounds

Thats about 136kg, for anyone wondering how much this is in sane units.

I saw it in a picture so it's true. Her der.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 9 points 5 days ago

You've heard of skid marks, but watch out! Here comes dirt racetrack!

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Thanks, Brandon.
