There're constant language games. "Lefties." They do it because it works.
I no longer say MAGA. I say the whole name, every time.
"MAGA Nazis." Every single time.
After the first two minutes they stop bickering.
After ten minutes of otherwise reasonable discussion, it sticks in their craw, and they repeat it too.
I don't say this about republicans. I want them to feel like choosing to be a republican, and not a MAGA, means they're different. I want to drive a wedge in their heart between their old self identity and being part of (gestures widely) this.
Is it different? No. But I want them to feel like they can be not a part of this without admitting it.
We can work on admitting it next year. Baby steps.
