*crowd chanting* "GUSTAVE! GUSTAVE! GUSTAVE! GUSTAVE! GUSTAVE! GUSTAVE!"

"Gustave is a man-eating male Nile crocodile that roams the Ruzizi river and the northern shores of Lake Tanganyika in Burundi, Africa. Gustave is rumored to have killed as many as 200–300 people, though one more recent estimate states the true figure is probably 60 people or fewer. He has obtained a mythical status and is greatly feared by the people in the region."

This is my darling son Tofu

*Edit: formatting

[–] Plum@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago

Hello, tofu

[–] Sidhean@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago

Tofu stands guard at the window! Thank you for keeping us safe, Tofu!

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

A beard suggests hair, that sounds suspiciously mammalian, I hope for your sake it's just the name...

Edit: The alt text mentions that Tofu, who looks very pretty, is a bearded dragon.

Where do you live that you get garage lizards like this?!

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Southern California. I think it's an alligator lizard.

I feel like this is a safe place to tell this story.

My roommate had a chameleon. Some mornings I would greet him by saying “what up, my lizard!”

All I would ever get in response was side eye.

sometimes, when explaining mundane things that can’t be confused as a metaphor, literally sounds extra stupid…
