Trying to pass laws to defend protesters’ rights is a lonely battle on Capitol Hill.

It moved us right slower than if Republicans had been in charge the whole time. Americans don't have the class consciousness to spontaneously vote left. Leftist third parties hold very few offices at all, and zero major ones.

Without a shift in cultural hegemony, and a flood of leftists in local offices to make good candidates for higher office, third party votes are a waste. They're not electorally successful, they're not even good marketing.

Voting blue slows the rightward slide. It can't save us, it's not supposed to save us. It's supposed to give us enough time to save ourselves, to do the ground work to shift the culture to embrace the left when a party is ready. The culture has not shifted, the party is not ready. The least we can do is strategically keep out the politicians who most fervently legislate against worker rights.
