Tim Waltz is your best bet here. White man, can peel off MAGA for change but still stay "pure". We have to get past the deep south rooted haters that hate POC, women and anything not white/Christian.

Obama was the Trump of the Dem party. Now you gotta play balance, sadly.

But he got shrecked in an easilly winnable debate with JD "Popeslayer" Vance, who used the strategy "lie and they won't call me on it".

Any Republican that is running will lie out of their teeth. That's their playbook.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

And Walz knew that and still lost, knowing the playbook. JD "Couchlayer" Vance was a lying slime the whole debate, and Walz failed to capitalize on it.

Would also add that weird "stolen valor" kind of moment where he said he was in China during Tiananmen square massacre. That's not gonna play well pretty much anywhere.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He already admitted he was wrong on it.

[–] OmegaMan@lemmings.world 1 points 4 days ago

Yeah... Not sure that's going to matter with swing voters.

he didn't lose the debate tho

walz/aoc would be a great ticket <3

Walz is going hard on full RTO for government workers in MN in order to prop up property investments. Please keep him away from my progressive ticket.

I was with you until you said "Obama was the Trump of the Dem party"

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I just saying mass adoption of the guy. Not policy of course. Hell they are talking about Obama vs Trump if he starts spitting 3rd term bullshit. So it makes sense that Obama would be looked at with the same gusto as Trump.

Now I believe that Dems would actually criticize Obama if he did stupid shit, unlike the MAGA of today with Trump.

You mean cult of personality, I guess. Well sure, Obama is looked up at, but not with the same ridiculous fervour as how Trumpers look at Trump.
