They probably took pointers from those crusty-ass black metal bands that walk into the studio asking the engineer for his shittiest mic, then spend half the session finding the worst way to rig it. They don't need repeat takes anyway, the sloppy playing is part of the vibe.
And then there's Fenriz who actually cares about drum sound - but then again he probably doesn't categorise as crusty-ass.
Nah, not all Black Metal is crusty. That's really more of a subgenre in itself.
Actual answer: they used two SM58 like the one in the bottom left of the meme.
