Trump administration must fund SNAP payments during the shutdown, judges rule

Two federal judges ruled nearly simultaneously on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must continue to fund SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, using contingency funds during the government shutdown.

It wasn’t immediately clear how quickly the debit cards that beneficiaries use to buy groceries could be reloaded after the ruling. That process often takes one to two weeks.

Vote in 2026, flip the House, get a 67 Seat Democratic majority in the Senate, impeach him a 3rd time and actually remove him this time, followed by his mandated jail time on his felony convictions.

You do know that none of that is going to happen, right?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 21 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Well the question was "what do you think we should do about it", that's what I think we should do. 😉

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 0 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

OK, fine. What do you think is likely to happen? And, when that likely thing happens… What do you think we should do about it then?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Most likely event is Trump dies from a stroke before anything meaningful can happen. Then we vote out J.D. Vance in 2028.

@tornavish@lemmy.cafe I meant in office— I saw an NPR article claming (I say claiming, beacuse we already know he gonna try to subvert the rules when he knows his stance will corrode his ego) that he would not run for another term.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 0 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

We all know he’s going to stay in office

@tornavish@lemmy.cafe if he stays with his stance that he's gonna not run in 2028.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 1 points 10 hours ago

He said he was. Then he said he wasn’t. Then he said he was. You new to US politics?

i dont think many senate seats are up for grabs, its the house seats. until '28 there will be more senate seats in trouble. hence why some of the DNC are so confidant in supporting the Israel genocide of gaza, thier seats are safe.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

33 seats up for election in 2026:

Ordinarily I'd say most of these are safe, but if the No Kings can draw out enough people? Maybe?

Don't forget letters to the editor of your local paper.

You know who actually reads those?

Elderly people who ACTUALLY READ AND VOTE
