It is embarrassing to acknowledge that I was alive in the 90s and literally everyone blamed Monica Lewinsky for her actions. She was a 22 year old staffer, predated on by the most powerful man in the world and the entire public dialogue was centered around her choices "as an adult." It is just shameful how it was handled in the public dialogue.
I'm glad that she survived the ordeal and is now a thriving advocate for victims.
I was a kid and remember wondering why the news was acting like it was her fault. My dad actually thought about moving the family out of the country, because "if Clinton couldn't stay faithful to his wife, how could he stay faithful to the nation?"
That seems so... Quaint

You're not wrong! He's deeply religious, but also autistic, so some of his stances are interesting if you don't understand how his mind works.
