Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding non-YSK posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-YSK posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

If you are a member, sympathizer or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

For further explanation, clarification and feedback about this rule, you may follow this link.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- The majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Unless included in our Whitelist for Bots, your bot will not be allowed to participate in this community. To have your bot whitelisted, please contact the moderators for a short review.

Rule 11- Posts must actually be true: Disiniformation, trolling, and being misleading will not be tolerated. Repeated or egregious attempts will earn you a ban. This also applies to filing reports: If you continually file false reports YOU WILL BE BANNED! We can see who reports what, and shenanigans will not be tolerated.

If you file a report, include what specific rule is being violated and how.

Red meat has a huge carbon footprint because cattle requires a large amount of land and water.

Demand for steaks and burgers is the primary driver of Deforestation:

If you don't have a car and rarely eat red meat, you are doing GREAT πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ πŸ™Œ

Sure, you can drink tap water instead of plastic water. You can switch to Tea. You can travel by train. You can use Linux instead of Windows AI's crap. Those are great ideas. But, don't drive yourself crazy. If you are only an ordinary citizen, remember that perfect is the enemy of good.

so how many burgers do I skip to compensate for one of Musk's jet joy rides?

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some rough math says pretty much all of them, and you'll need to stop heating your house too.

well worth it as long as billionaires remain happy... I could be one of them one of these days, you know?

Look, it's simple. Fighting climate change is like taxes.

You don't have to give up 100% of your money to have roads and fire trucks.

You alone won't make much a difference. But multiply it by many people, and it's easy to get rid of Musk.

Oh, and I guess eat less burgers too I guess

Ok full disclosure, I do recycle, eat less meat (because of the environment not because I don't really really miss it), walk/bike/scoot wherever I go if feasible before firing my 8 year old Prius, make everything I can at home (much to the detriment of my wife's good humour hahaha), etc

However, your analogy does not hold. I am not killing myself for the environment but if I did, it would be like cleaning a grain of sand off a beach... All of us, together, may make a noticeable hole in some beach... but Musk alone is driving truck loads full of sand back into this beach and multiple other beaches we have not even started to clean yet.

Attempting to significantly reduce (much less reverse) climate change from the consumer side is like trying to stop a runaway train by blowing on it

I can't straight up say what I'm saying, because rules, allegedly.

I meant together a bunch of people could get rid of Musk, in Minecraft. Ban him from the world server permanently. You know, from mass reporting
