Nothing is beamed directly to your phone, it’s a broadcast, so waves n stuff.
But underneath it's just unicast to your phone, no?
But anyway, beamed directly it may be, it's called beamforming.

I think they meant the phone is beaming the horrific news to their face which is inches away, not that the horrific news is beamed directly to their phone
