I've been reading stories about people growing disillusioned with Trump for almost a decade now and yet nothing ever changes.

There was a bit of a change on November 2020.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not amongst his supporters. More people voted for him in 2020 than 2016.

Those who voted for Trump were fewer than those who voted for Biden.

I agree, but it's irrelevant to what I'm posting about. I understand that the military isn't a monolith and there are some anti-Trump people there, but those who wear basically any uniform (national guard, military, police, ice, etc.) are largely Trump supporters and, despite some whining, I have yet to see any indicator that they'll break with Trump.

I've been reading about cracks amongst his support for ten years and no major obstacles ever actually materialize.

Biden's 4 years were kind of a major obstacle, and the 2018 mid-terms kind of got in the way.

November 2026 is just 17 months away, and if he tries something in 2028, there might be a lot of opposition, particularly if the economy continues to suffer.

Again, the subject is active duty military and national guard dropping their arms and joining the protestors.

They should have thought about this before they volunteered.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What does that have to do with anything?

[–] DMCMNFIBFFF@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I'm not sure. I thought I'd just throw it in. The point is they serve the law and the President is the CoC, regardless who he is.
