There are numerous analyses which show the same link between economic vulnerability, high birth rate, and extremism. Which is why the right wing are always chopping away at support programs, economic development, and birth control.

I think the reason it looks like religion motivates violent extremism is because the demography of the people most vulnerable to extremist propaganda are also more likely (statistically) to be more religious.

The right wing is still powerful over there. The Supreme court judge who voted to acquit bolsanaro is still a member of the court. All it takes is a broken judiciary to enable fascism. And Brazil could easily go in that direction again if the fascists win control again.
The court did not address the worst rights violations: the ice agents refused to return the victims' Real ID (driver's license) and they probably copied his phone.
Meaning after taking his ID they can then indefinitely incarcerate him for not having ID. They can also prevent him from driving because he does not have a driver's license.
And they added his data to a criminal database along with all of his social contacts and communication.
