I think it was because we put lead in gasoline personally. I don't know about orchestrated, I think human greed has existed for a very long time. Empathy is something that requires a high level of intelligence.

You need infrastructure to actually support an alternative, otherwise cars are a necessity for many people to get to work and the grocery store.
