That example may be bad, but it's also typical.
False confidence is real, but it's silly to think all confidence is false.
Do you honestly believe there is no greater poverty in America than "can't buy the latest phone"? What about the swathes of people who struggle to keep a roof over their heads?
That analogy would work if people were genuinely as identical, thoughtless and replaceable as grains of rice.
That would be a brilliant point if anyone, at all, ever, advocated for senseless killing.
They didn't say "hating their subject". They said "might not like their syllabus", which could just mean they'd prefer a different syllabus.
