Eh. Calories are... Tricky. What is a calorie? A unit of food which, when burned, will heat a gram of water by 1 degree Celsius. But your body isnt just a furnace, it's complex. And everyone is physiologically different - we aren't all running at the same efficiency (base metabolism). And not all calories are available. For example, fiber is not digestable and can't be absorbed by the digestive system and it also associates with simple sugars which also prevents them from being properly absorbed. So, eating whole fruits will result in absorbing less sugar than drinking juice which has the same total amount of sugar. Processing food - even just cooking it - makes calories more bioavailable.

For sure it can conceptually be boiled down to calories effectively absorbed and calories burned. But digging into what that actually means can actually be quite tricky.

Biden himself ran for president and won on the third shot. But, since two woman ran for president and lost, thats a sign that no woman can get elected.

Its not that women can't win. Its that centrist dems than run on the status quo when the Democratic party is polling abysmally can't win.

People say nope to proton and signal in here without offering a better alternative. I'm open to shitting on them (proton CEO really pissed me off by praising the trump admin), but just saying nope to them without functional alternatives isn't helpful.

The vaccine has a risk of causing heart complications. It should be monitored. COVID has a much higher risk of heart complications.

DivestOS used to be the bomb. Super secure. Monthly updates. Super private. Ran on tons of hardware. But it was run by 1 guy and he recently dropped the project. Which is fair, it was a lot of free labor and donations weren't paying the bills, but so sad :(

For real. Like, if you have two brain cells to rub together, you observe body language and mix checking in on your partner with dirty talk. It's not like "are you still consenting?! Do you still like me?!" Literally there's porn lines you can copy like "yeah, you like that?" or "I want you to beg for it" or "tell/show me what you like" or whatever is up your alley. Deliver it with a modicum of confidence and its not weird.

I grew up in rural america in a tourist town. We hated the tourists. Wealthy. Arrogant. Rude. Unaware of local customs. Drove up rent and grocery prices.

But, at the end of the day, we were the only town within an hour radius that wasn't crumbling. All those vacation homes paid property taxes and the school system was great. There were jobs for people.

There are a lot of issues with unregulated tourism and immigration. But it's better to regulate the issues and keep up with fostering good job markets and building government controlled affordable housing instead of try and ban a chunk of your economy. Which, from this limited article, it seems like the government is trying to do.

Pretty much this. Met him once. He's has no scandals, he's just kind of a rude guy.

I had a friend tell a story once about how he was on a field trip and the class found out Bill Nye was in the building. But once Bill found out kids were on the way he escaped out a window to avoid them. I'm not sure how true that is, but its kinda funny.

I'm living in Europe and all my debt is in USD. The collapse of the dollar is pretty bitter sweet.
