I mean, agree, but I’m a scout leader who towes at least monthly, had a bed full of wreaths to deliver yesterday for example.. I’m a middle aged dude with a work from home job, so all of those are indeed considerations and I do my best to be conscientious. Besides, my properly aimed headlights produce less glare than all the aftermarket, poorly aimed ones that people who think the blueish light makes them look fancier.

It’s commmts like yours though that kinda irk me. I mean, if a grey 4 wheel drive pickup, with a bunch of campground stickers offends someone, that’s not really on me. I’ll take the hate from assholes any day.

It’s this realization that led me to buying a truck. I always wanted one but couldn’t justify it, too wasteful. Well, after this shitshow I realize that all my guilt has been to naught, only there to placate the masses to reduce in order for the billionaires to get away with anything.

So, when I needed a new vehicle, I got the one I wanted. Ironically it’s both the largest and best gas mileage car I’ve ever owned (still got a hybrid, but because it’s cool, gas savings are an appreciated benefit).

I still can’t shake all the guilt, but I absolutely love my vehicle at least.

It’s true. I have had a good number of jobs, I come, work on things, make improvements, then move on when I’ve grown or they are in a better spot. I honestly thought I was the guy coming in to help fix things and then move on once things are stable.

Instead, I have created a series of opportunities for them to blame the last guy to leave.

No matter how good of a job you do, unless you are there to remind folks, they will forget and use the easy scapegoat. I’m still very popular with the folks I worked with on the ground, but management types are primarily after someone else to blame…

Best site on the internet. I was so worried when flash died, big sigh of relief when they went html5.

They are both worse than useless but I’m actually more upset by Jeffries. We have known for ages who Schumer is, never should have gotten a position of power. I remember Jeffries coming up though, he was sold as this new, young, dynamic and progressive face for the party. But he is the oldest young person in America, he governs like someone even more out of touch than the crypt keeper he replaced.

Given the grindr stats that follow them wherever they go, this seems plausible.

None. They can and do get away with any evil, and their team will continue to cheer for them.

I really don’t know what to do about it, don’t know that I can. But I’m coming home from vacation and plan on finding some local groups to join that I can support. I’m also a leader in our scout troop, so hopefully passing along better morals to some of our youth.

Show that to a republican and they will just say it’s proof that the dems get away with it.

Christ man, you are still lawyering this away.

Yes, the power dynamic of old dude and young women are part of tape culture. Yes, sex work is part of rape culture (it’s nuanced but in this case YES). I’m not anti sex-work, but I am against a system that makes it illegal, and creates a black market like this.

You can come up with all the hypotheticals to make it right, it wasn’t. You are defending rape culture.

Rape culture is a culture that makes excuses for and enables rapists. Look who’s in the government right now. We ALL know gates is creepy as shit yet he still attained a position of extreme power. Look at the president, all his friends falling out of the emails. There is a major problem with this kind of behavior in our culture.

Edit- look, we’re missing each other because I am arguing a larger cultural issue, you are arguing specific laws (why I say you are lawyering). I do not care how legal this might have been and I am not given to charitable interpretations of obvious evil behavior.

Dude , you are still explaining away an adult man fucking an underaged girl in an extreme power imbalance. He knew what he was doing, he knew she was underaged. That he had people help facilitate the rape does not make it less of one.

A 40 year old who needs to ID the woman he’s paying to have sex with knows EXACTLY what he was doing.

Anyone else feel like this is nature fighting back against the horrible farming practices and shit eating habits? I love me a good steak, and definitely eat too much red meat, so, if I wind up with one of these tick bites, I guess I’ll have to chalk it up to karma.

Growing up, I heard so many from my parents generation saying things about having to work against your impulses. I heard so many express worry about denying attractions and fears of the same sex being attracted to them, worried about finding themselves in a situation after too much to drink…

To the point where I briefly wondered what was wrong with me, that I never felt these temptations. I even tried making out with a guy once just to see the reaction. It wasn’t for me, I just don’t have that attraction in me.

I realized VERY young that the gay/straight thing was a whole lot easier AND a whole lot more complicated than it had been sold.
