Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Christians are such hateful people. Imagine writing a manifesto to take over a government just so you can harm all the people you hate. And that's what Project 2025 is. Evil!

American Christians. I'm not saying it doesn't happen anywhere else but Americans have taken it to 11.

My brother in Christ, history would like a word...

Ever heard of the crusades? Spanish inquisition?

America is a tame rendering of violent and evil Christianity. Our grimmest claim would be the witch hunts, which we share with a lot of Europe.

Christian’s that descended from Roman Christianity/original group of patriarchs. Coptic, Ethiopian, and Indian sects are very much non violent and forgiveness. Within the community things may be different, but if you like Augustine of hippo, holy war is a valid concept in your religion

I'm sorry?

My religion??

"My brother in Christ" was being used euphemistically, for comedic effect.

I believe God === community. I do not ascribe to a religion.

They just spin a wheel every fucking year and decide to screw some group over.

Typical fascism. There always needs to be an out-group to demonise, to fearmonger against, so that people can ignore their own problems caused by the fascists and rally behind them.

It worked for Hitler, it worked for Mussolini, and it is working for Trump. Absolutely pathetic that after all the education, all the warnings, morons are still falling in line for a seemingly strong leader just because he targets the "right" minorities.

Goodbye same sex marriage, goodbye interracial marriage

[–] errer@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I’ll be the ray of sunshine: the Supreme Court refused to hear a challenge to same sex marriage (https://www.scotusblog.com/2025/11/supreme-court-declines-to-hear-case-on-constitutionality-of-same-sex-marriage/)

So I kind of doubt either will go away

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That doesn't really mean anything. If they actually had no interest in overturning it, they would have heard it and ruled against it.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 days ago

Yeah they are holding off for the right case because they don't want to issue a ruling with holes or ambiguities or opinions that could be used to argue for other rights.

[–] velindora@lemmy.cafe 11 points 2 days ago

This is just them pushing it off until 2026. They didn’t want to hear the case of that dumb woman. They want something more substantial. And that’s Project 2026.

This is year ONE.

I can't wrap my mind around the fact that there are people that just hate other people so much. How do you wake up in the morning and just hate? Also whatever happened to, "it's a free country?"

[–] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

Have you met a maga supporter?

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 16 points 2 days ago

It's impressive that he's able to make him look more villainous than Lex Luthor.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

The Trump Court will, at some point, strike down marriage equality. That will cause chaos. Hundreds of thousands of couples will suddenly be in legal limbo.

[–] fedupwithbureaucracy@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There needs to be some serious punishments and consequences dolled out to the religious. Get your cancer out of society so we can stop all this abrahamic bullshit

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 15 hours ago

They're not religious, they're rich demons who love to find fresh ways to destroy the country
