It's working. Most Americans are just that dim..

[–] sramder@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago

Or single issue voters… feels like he’s thinning the herd.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 13 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Take this seriously. The rest of the world does. We should too.

Oil,that's what he means by national security. Dear Americans please get rid of that cancer you call potus. General strikes is what you can do.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 6 points 16 hours ago

They'll just find another great american to replace him

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 5 points 17 hours ago

TBF, he also means strategic expansionism. (The Arctic is playing an ever greater role in geopolitics, as the ice melts)

This is not just Trump at this point. No American is standing up for their ally Denmark. This is disgusting and involves all Americans. Stop buying their shitty weapons.

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 10 points 15 hours ago

Stop buying all their products.

You wouldn't buy a can of beans grown and packed by the Nazis, or firewall security software from Russia. I actively stopped buying any American products in the store when I Trump won both times.

Fuck tyrants.

What? This very much does not involve all Americans.

Most Americans despise this asshole and have no interest in invading Greenland, and plenty see it as a horrific betrayal.

[–] tehsillz@lemmy.world 13 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Show me one American politician who is standing up for Denmark and Greenland right now

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 3 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

TBF most Americans couldn't find Denmark.

[–] tehsillz@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Real shame considering Denmark spend 19 years with the US in Afghanistan and lost 44 soldiers..

IMHO saying "this involves all Americans" is valid, and not an attack against every single one.

[–] gressen@lemmy.zip 23 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

This is an attack of whole EU.

My conspiracy theory with this Greenland thing: Those in power now are deliberately destroying the world so it can be "rebuilt the right way". Greenland is in a position on the globe to become quite a pleasant climate. Once the ice melts it will be one of the best places on earth to live. Not to mention the huge amount of natural resources that will become available. Its also currently a politically isolated area, so when WW3 wipes out half the population it will most likely remain untouched. (Though tbf if trump makes moves on it that wont be the case). I don't think the current admin is even really aware of why Greenland is important, save for a few people who implemented project 2025.

to add: when the polar ice caps melt it will be positioned directly in a newly available shipping route

I’d truly love to see him try to do this or Canada simply because I don’t know anyone in the military that would follow those orders and I’m around a bunch of higher ranking ones. Pretty sure this would push him to impeachment. One can hope.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 50 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (2 children)

Are those the same guys that were going to stop him from deploying the national guard within the US, or the guys that wouldn't ever pirate vessels, or fire missiles at fisherman and watch them drown?

But yeah, I'm sure we will see some integrity from US military leadership any day now.

[–] Heliumfart@sh.itjust.works 8 points 19 hours ago

No thank you. I def don't want to rely on the US Army to do the right thing

As a Canadian I really do not want to see him try that

[–] michaelmrose@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

There is no reason to believe that the senate would actually vote to impeach. Almost 60% of current or former soldiers voted for Trump. Veteran is a synonym for traitor.

The USA is the most secure nation on the planet, we don't need shit

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

We'll just ignore all those war thunder forum leaks.

As an anti-war person, I will fight for Greenland’s autonomy.

[–] rainbowbunny@slrpnk.net 6 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

He also claimed the US was there 300 years ago. "We were there with boats too I'm sure." (Refrencing Greenland) Piped Reuters

[–] gwl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

Ah, more attempts to distract from the Epstein Files it seems

Man has no actual intention to do anything to Greenland.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 20 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Stop downplaying his direct threats on another nation's sovereignty. He has the motive and the means to do it. It's a very real threat and ignoring it is dangerous.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

I seem to remember dems downplaying the danger of trump running for president and look how that went...

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 14 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (2 children)

Please stop doing his PR for him. Is it just like he didn't really have an actual intention to deploy ICE as blackshirts? Is it like how he wasn't really going to gut government agencies under the flimsiest excuse of "DOGE"? Is it like how he wasn't going to go completely absurd with tariffs? Is it just like he wasn't going to begin sinking ships, pirating oil tankers, and starting wars with nearby countries?

Just because the guy is so incompetent his letting you see his cards before he has played them doesn't mean he does not intend on playing them. It is signalling to Russia, China, and Saudi Arabia not only that he has them but that he will play them. This all comes from initiatives from people like the Heritage Foundation's Luke Coffey colliding and merging with all the other agendas he sees himself benefiting from that have foreign powers freely buying his influence and pushing him towards this change in world order.

When China invades Taiwan, when Russia begins invading other countries besides Ukraine, it is very likely the Trump administration will use this as an excuse to try to "protect" strategic interests like Canada and Greenland, which will just be the US moving in their military influence into the bases already present on their soil and then sprawling out to whatever "strategic" assets they need to "secure", while also trying to pressure their governments into a deal like Ukraine's. When they don't cooperate, they will call up on their new "allies" to manufacture pressure for them while they are preoccupied trying to keep the US military locked down, likely through "Trump daddy" Mark Rutte led NATO.

No amount of denial has ever kept wars from happening in the past.

[–] paperazzi@lemmy.world 10 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Canada understands the threat, thus the boycott of all things USian and call for 300,000 civilian military.

Shit, good point, he's done other crazy shit.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 12 points 14 hours ago

I wouldn't be so certain. He's weird. And someone is probably telling him he could name it Trumpland.

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 5 points 15 hours ago (2 children)
