Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Well, no one ever accused the American government of being smart...

This is what happens when your trade policy amounts to raw extortion.

Fuck em. They don't want negotiation, they want capitulation.

We need to smarten up and support our government playing hardball but we're still being wishy-washy with our support. Lines out the door to get the last bottles of JD? F off. Travel is only down 30%? F off. Stop selling our country to the US one amazon purchase at a time. It will hurt, but it is necessary if you don't want to become amerikkkun.

Blanket punitive tariffs double whatever the US implements. Want our aluminum, wood and oil? Cut the BS. We're already recovering by increasing ties, both militarily and economically with the EU.

The next time Canada dumps a bunch of milk in a ditch to control prices they should film it to show the trump administration.

😜. US sees it as controlling price, but the bigger benefit is it controls quality and animal welfare by stopping overproduction. Which the US hates, they just make as much as they can pump out regardless of how it affects quality or animal health.

And subsidize their industry because they over produce.

Who really does this. I'm sorry the video who did this was on purpose. They know how much milk they need and produce around that much. Is it sometimes higher probably but not thousands of liters.

A milk cow can generate a 1000 litres of milk a month, it seems reasonable that you might have one or two more cows than you need as a buffer for a dairy farm, and for a larger company with multiple farms, 1000 litres isn't even a rounding error. Canada produced over 800,000,000 litres of milk in May alone see Stats Canada. I believe supply management regulations also force the destruction of overproduction as well. related Question Period QA. Based on this, it's even worse than 1000's of litres.

They can keep their hormone and antibiotic infected milk and shitty whisky.

As for netflix, eat my ass. We promote our own art up here. I want more Canadian artists on my playlists. What do they expect us to do? Watch those stupid American superhero movies? Fuck that shit.

Serious question, what hormones are in the milk? I don't think I have ever seen a jug of milk without a label saying that it was free of growth hormones. Even Walmart milk has the rBST-free label.

What the US wants from Canada: everything. What Canada wants from the US: for them to fuck off.

I know which of those two I think will win out in the long haul.

I can boycott U.S. dairy as easily as I boycott every other U.S. product.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not if they flood our market and kill our industry. And sure we have supply management but they have subsidies.

[–] ZDL@lazysoci.al 2 points 17 hours ago

Dairy is not a necessity. (Source: I've lived practically dairy free for 25 years here.)

It's trivial to boycott a non-necessity.

They can always technically meet requirements while still having the same end result. For instance, US products are on a shelf with a warning sign. Or they're locked up and you need to find an employee to get it for you. Or they're simply overpriced to the point where no one would want it.
