PSA: Your estradiol pills might not melt together but they will be damaged by high temperature environments. Always store your hrt (and other meds) in cool, dry conditions.

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 17 points 1 day ago

Also high humidity - don't store meds in the bathroom

What are people who live in the desert or the jungle supposed to do?

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

People who have access to hrt usually also have access to a fridge

Depending on the medicine, a fridge could be cold enough to damage it. My testosterone isn't supposed to be stored at temps below 68F (20C)

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Oh interesting! Is susceptible to heat as well?

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

🤔

I don't know for a fact, but the testicles are outside the body for cooling purpouses....

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 1 day ago

Yes, it shouldn't be stored above 77F (25C)

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you can make shade and relatively dry locations even where its humid.

Also, if you're in the jungle or desert, usually you ended up there on purpouse, or there are no pharmacies nearby.

There are cities in the desert. Las Vegas, famously, but also Cairo, Damascus, Alice Springs, and Madrid. Likewise for the jungle.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

and do you find that medicine cabinets in las vegas are unsafely hot, or that my point is still correct?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

what do I do now?

See a doctor?

[–] RumorsOfLove@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I poured silicon beads into my pill bottle to prevent this.

[–] three@lemmy.zip 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I keep my pills in a cool, dark place not exceeding the temperature limits listed on the label.
